Via ESPN Research: Friday’s games had an average margin of victory of 19.7 points, the highest on a single day (minimum 3 games) in NCAA tournament history.

Not only are there just four double-digit seeds left, not only did all favorites win yesterday, the games haven’t been particularly close. Per ESPN Research, the average margin of victory in the first round was 17.4 points, the highest since the tournament expanded in 1985.

In the last 5 minutes, multiple missed free throws, bad turnovers, and failing to box out did the Cavs in. Those were problem areas that had been improving, but came back at the wort time.
