$750 directly to elementary homeroom teachers for classroom supplies. The opposition calls that a problem. For teachers, it’s support.

As students return to school, our government is providing historic funding and opening a record 41 new and expanded schools this fall. Our goal is clear: to provide students with the opportunity to succeed and grow, and ensure teachers have the resources they need to inspire learning and help students thrive.

I’m done with school boards that work outside of their mandate and refuse to make the right decisions to support students and teachers in the classroom.

Our government is taking decisive and necessary action to ensure our education system remains focused on what matters most: helping students succeed. We’re appointing supervisors to four more boards to get them back on track.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to learn about the cultures, histories and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Ontario and to recommit to working together to build a stronger, more inclusive province.

School Resource Officer programs help build relationships between youth and police, actively promote positive behaviour and create a culture of mutual respect. I recently had the chance to see first-hand with the @PoliceAssocON how police officers interact with students at North Park Collegiate in #Brantford and the positive impact it has had on the school environment.

I have been clear with school boards across the province that we expect every dollar to be spent on directly supporting students, parents and teachers. I will be relentless in holding school boards accountable on the way they spend these funds.

Parents deserve confidence that school boards are making decisions in the best interests of their children’s education. That’s why our government is strengthening accountability and transparency across Ontario’s school boards, ensuring that every dollar invested is preparing students for success. I expect school boards to focus on what matters most: student success. The investigator we’re sending into the TDSB will get the board back on track.

I always appreciate the opportunity to connect with municipal leaders and community partners – from child care to investing in new schools, and other key challenges affecting our rural communities, thanks to all for the productive and insightful discussions. Last month, I was delighted to join @SylviaJonesMPP to break ground on the new Caledon East Public School… my first groundbreaking ceremony as Minister of Education! 🏫 Our government is delivering a world-class education for Ontario students that best prepares them for their future - this includes support for the capital investments students and families need in growing areas of the province, like #Caledon.

- It was such a pleasure to return to École secondaire Le Caron in Penetanguishene—this time, as Ontario’s Minister of Education! Walking through the halls and seeing the incredible energy of the students actively engaged in the skilled trades programs. From Grade 9 and 10 students baking cookies and mastering kitchen skills to others building small houses, and seeing equipment used for welding, plumbing, all honing carpentry skills in the construction workshop. It’s clear that these students are building more than just knowledge—they’re building their futures. I’m incredibly proud of the work being done here and excited to see how the students continue to grow. Thank you for the extensive tour, and the cutting board and gifts handcrafted by the students.

It’s been a busy day getting it done here in Ontario. Check out what we did today, Thursday, December 12:   ✅ I joined @PaulCalandra, @MPPKerzner, @douglasdowney, @SylviaJonesMPP and @MichaelTibollo, along with mayors from across Ontario, to announce new proposed legislation that will give municipalities and police the tools they need to end illegal encampments in parks and public spaces and provide people the help they need.     ✅ I had productive and positive conversations with @GovWhitmer from Michigan and Governor @KathyHochul from New York about the important trading relationships both states have with Ontario and the need to protect workers and businesses on both sides of the border from harmful tariffs.   ✅ @PaulCalandra also introduced legislation that, if passed, would establish a standardized municipal code of conduct and advance Peel Region’s transition by transferring the delivery of key public works from the Region to Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon. ✅ @Sflecce and @samoosterhoff announced construction is complete on the Watay Power Transmission Project. Watay Power has built approximately 1,800 kilometres of new transmission lines that will connect 16 remote First Nations communities to the provincial grid, ending their reliance on costly and noisy diesel generators.   ✅ @SylviaJonesMPP also announced that we are investing up to $95.5 million to build a new Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, connecting more people and families in Collingwood and South Georgian Bay communities to more convenient, high-quality care, close to home.
