In Navy SEAL training, students who failed daily had to do two extra hours of punishment. They called it “circus.” Those students should have burned out first. Instead, they got stronger than everyone else. Admiral McRaven spent 20 minutes explaining the 10 lessons SEAL training taught him: Lesson 1: Make your bed. Every morning, the first thing instructors inspected was your bed. Corners square. Covers tight. Pillow centered. "It seemed ridiculous at the time. We were aspiring to be real warriors." In Special Forces, we were trained to really pay attention to the language people use. There's a saying we lived by: "words have meaning". That meant breaking them down carefully, what exactly is being said, and who shares the same understanding of those terms? That's why phrases like "our democracy" immediately make me pause and ask: who exactly is "our"? Am I part of that group? Are everyday Americans like me and my community included? It's the exact same question that comes up in office politics when someone says "we." Who is that "we," really? If I just relied on my own definition or the standard dictionary one, I'd naturally assume I was included. But that's the trap. Without clear definitions, laid out upfront, like you're required to do in a college research paper to prevent misunderstandings, assumptions can lead you way off track. The Democrats aren't fools. As @DataRepublican lays out in this thread, they've made it crystal clear that the rest of us aren't part of their "our." It's a closed club, and that's the point

Among our 3 biggest assets in the war with Iran -- our military might, our economic might, AND the Iranian people.  They are an asset.  They overwhelmingly despise the regime.  And they can provide internal pressures and threats against the regime that we cannot from an air campaign and even through economic pressure.  But they cannot effectively threaten the regime with their bare hands.  They are a courageous people who've repeatedly risen up against the regime.  And 50,000 lost their lives in January alone protesting against the regime. But they have never been supported in any real way, with arms and the means to fight back.  They are an asset, a resource, that ought to be utilized.  From all I know and hear, they want to be supported and part of this effort.

Maybe not a popular take but I am calling for this guy to be pardoned. Unless the DOJ plans on going after all the crooks in congress currently insider trading, this is simply skewed justice. There is no “justice” when guys like this get the book thrown at him yet members are illegally profiting every day.
