@broadwaybabyto Do you have an update? Were you able to replace it? Worried about you…

@FredTopel I’m so rattled by how reliant I am on it. It’s kinda scary. And I’m so hungry. Honestly makes me wish I had storage space so I could keep a back up in the condo!

My microwave broke tonight without warning and given I’m completely housebound I can’t just go out and replace it (not to mention the sudden expense) All those folks who say disabled people can’t use DoorDash… can I use it now? Or would you prefer I starve?

@FredTopel Exactly. I think the “I had no idea how bad it was” was about as close to an apology as they could muster. It’s too bad because a sincere “I’m sorry” can be quite healing.

One of my oldest friends ghosted me when I went public with my chronic illness. They wanted the “old me”. They wanted me to hide it better. Two days ago they reached out to say they’re now disabled & worried they won’t be able to keep their job. They asked for my help 🧵

@broadwaybabyto I often think if people really understood how powerful a sincere apology is they’d do it all the time. But their ego won’t let them.

And we do this with compassion and kindness despite the way we’ve been treated. We show up for you even when you wouldn’t show up for us. Please, consider saying sorry. Consider acknowledging the way you treated us. It would mean a lot. /end

@davidehrlich It certainly feels like they force critics to rush, then complain about quality of reviews. But they also work overtime to stonewall critics out of any screening. It does seem aggressive. If they valued our work they could certainly schedule screenings earlier ahead of embargo.

Fantastic Four is screening at 7pm the night before a noon embargo, so critics will have 3 work hours at most to file their reviews (to say nothing of the edit process). not the biggest crisis on earth, but I’ll never get why studios keep doing this to their films. even good ones

Alligator Alcatraz was built in 8 days It took just over a week to create a massive concentration camp Remember this the next time those in power claim they can't house the homeless, feed the starving or provide medical care to the poor They can, they don't want to

Just got maybe the most unprofessional request I have ever received in my career. A publicist asked me to change my review from negative to positive. Publicist friends, do not do this. It's the fastest way to get me to never cover anything you're working on ever again.

@FredTopel Yup. It was so obvious too. I wanted to say more. I wanted to defend myself and point out some of his personal failings that have held him back. Unfortunately it didn’t feel safe. There was way too much rage.

A former “friend” told me he cared for me & wanted me to have everything I needed… but that it was time I realize I’m a net negative in society. He referenced my “free surgeries”, countless ER trips & how the system was artificially extending my life. 🧵

@broadwaybabyto There it is. He’s looking for the scapegoat to explain his lack of success.

He said that people like me are the reason people like him can’t get ahead. That he never consented to providing hand outs to disabled or poor people. That he doesn’t feel his tax dollars should be spent this way.

To me it’s like asking if I’m going to wear pants or a bra forever. I’ve adapted. A mask is simply another article of clothing. If I’m sharing air with other people, I wear a mask. I don’t wear bras or pants at home, but I put ‘em on in public!

“Are you ever going to stop masking?” People ask this with disdain, like they can’t comprehend how someone could *still* be masking in 2025 I like not being sick. If I had known how effective N95s were, I would have worn them before! If denial continues, masking is necessary

@broadwaybabyto I wish I’d known about N95s sooner. Foreign countries were masking regularly long before 2020. I would’ve joined them.

Seat H9 in theater 14 at @AMCTheatres Burbank 16 is broken, totally sunken in on the left side. You should rope it off until it is fixed.

@broadwaybabyto I liked The Pitt too but I can’t stop humming Chris Pratt’s Parks and Rec song “you’re in the piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, we’re in the piiiiiiiiiiiiiit.” 😂😂😂😂😂

@FredTopel I actually enjoy medical shows! Waiting for the rest of The Pitt to drop before I dive in (loved the pilot though)

It’s been quiet here the last few weeks… if you’re still here & can see this give a wave! I’m unsure if people have (once again) moved on or if they’re simply engaging less. Unrelated note… what are you watching? I need something to occupy me until the rest of Severance drops!

@broadwaybabyto Ever see the movie Miracles from Heaven? I can’t vouch for the medical miracle it claims but to me the real miracle was the regular people going out of their way to help a mother and daughter. Just doing a little bit more than they had to.

They say that all that’s needed for evil to triumph is for good folks to do nothing. So today, do something Help a stranger. Buy someone coffee or a meal. Donate to mutual aid. Elevate marginalized voices. Give to a community fridge. Wear a mask. Practice community care
