I am not so sure. You see this a lot. Some up and coming film of some beloved family oriented story is announced.
A few months before it's release, a moral scolding social media influencer type makes a Reel or some video explaining he or she found out how the film of the beloved family story has a ghey character or two men kissing or some other major offensive scene in it.
People clutch pearls, fall down on fainting couches, express outrage online: WE WILL BOYCOTT! NO WOKE! THEY ARE GHEYING EVERYTHING! THE FILM MAKERS ARE GROOMING YOUR KIDS! You get the picture.
The film of the beloved family oriented story is released, people go to see it and the scene in question is a big nothing and the moral scold is looked to be a fool. There may very well be some strategy in that negative press.

@jwsherrod I don't think it'll fail. I just think the liberal/woke narrative surrounding the film will cost it money. Millions. Kind of hard to prove that, but I don't see how it doesn't.

The greatest Western novel ever written (Lonesome Dove) mostly took place in Texas at a time when it was more populated than Minnesota during the Ingalls’ time there and had already been a state twice as long.
There was a lot of “West” in America’s history. We had a lot of frontier after the Louisiana Purchase.

@BonifaceOption I get that, but she wants to place these stories in what we know from Hollywood movies and TV shows as the cowboy and Indians west. MN is a far different place than what was AZ/NV/Sierra Mtns.

@BonifaceOption Indians were pretty much like that everywhere, though. The more I look at Ingalls life, she was in MO, WI, and some in MN. Not what we typically think of as The West, as in Louie Lamour/John Wayne.

@Fred_Butler Well the Indians were a pretty big problem in MN throughout the 1800s. The last big raid wasn’t until 1898.
It just wasn’t the dusty old west of Clint Eastwood movies.

As a theater kid who did what many theater kids do - joined politics- I can tell you when you’ve seen another theater kid. Here she is! Probably had to be a little extra to regulate the divorced parents and make them notice her. Class clown. Always ON. Ask me how I know

@NolteNC I've tried many times to explain to my kids how weird it was growing up in the 70s. The amount of time we spent as kids discussing UFOs, Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster is beyond calculation.
