Patient: My grandmother had breast cancer at 60 and I was told I can’t take hormone replacement therapy even though I can’t sleep at night from the hot flashes. Me: Who told you that? Patient: A friend who had breast cancer. She said HRT caused it. Me: HRT doesn’t cause breast cancer, it slightly raises the risk. Let’s talk about your risk and how much it would go up but the benefits usually outweigh the risk. Patient (at end of visit): Oh my goodness Dr. I am so glad I came to see you. Me: HRT can help protect the brain and bones and it raises the risk of breast cancer less than the scientific community originally thought. It is safe for many women even with a family history! For all the women who will see this: Please discuss your risk factors and calculate your risk with your OBGYN / a high risk breast clinic (which may include genetic testing) and make an empowered decision.

I saw evidence of this today shopping at Superstore in Alberta. The majority of the fruit was from the USA where previously it's been from Canada & other places. So disappointed. This is why I went to Sobeys to get apples & other fruit from Canada, and others. #BuyCanadian 🇨🇦

@CraigBaird If you find yourself near Gananoque ON this is the start of the St. Lawrence Seaway and the 1000 Islands. Look for a road called the 1000 Islands Parkway. Follow this road. You'll see beautiful islands and when you get to Brockville. Look for Canada’s first railway tunnel.

Feeling much better today so hitting the road for the Cross Canada journey in a couple hours. Very nervous about it. Longest trip I have ever done. Thousands of kilometres of driving, sleeping in a tent. But it will be worth it to see so much of this beautiful country.

We should also put John Candy on our bills and call it the “Uncle Buck” 🤝🇨🇦
