@DaleVince How will replacing frankenchickens with non-frankenchickens make any difference to chickens? Chicken exploiters will just hike the price and make more money and chicken consumers will just feel better about buying more chicken.

Best thing we can do is end factory farming - but next best thing is defo to end the genetic modification of animals for factory farming - ban the Frankenchicken..:) Is that what the F in KFC stands for? Maybe it should. actnow.thehumaneleague.org.uk/page/173985/pe…

I’m not into the concept of “reparations” across multiple generations. But yeah, we should be thankful to abolitionists of the past. Nonvegans should also recognize that they needlessly enslave beings as sentient and innocent as children. Veganism is abolitionism in one’s life.
Alice Smith@TheAliceSmith

How about white people get reparations from the world for ending slavery? Or even a thank you?

@ValenceFirst @wescillus I care about ending the exploitation of animals and liberating them from subjugation by humans. 'anti-predation' entails the exact opposite, and is antithetical to veganism. Plus, its proponents are obviously animal agriculture stooges, employed to make vegans look crazy.

@FreeFormLurk @wescillus If you care about nonhuman animal suffering why should that not extend to victims of predation in the wild? If this stems from practical concerns do you realize that antipredation is an ethical view only suggesting we should prevent it where we have the ability to do so safely?

@MbmSava @CarnismDebunked Also, despite PETA claiming they are a 'vegan' group, their actions suggest they are just a welfarist organisation that supports the use of animals in order to obtain donations. This is why vegan advocacy needs clear, consistent, coherent messaging to work.

"Hey, vegans: feeding your dog a plant-based diet is forcing your views on animals." Hey non-vegans: did you ever consider that killing animals to be turned into human and pet food is the ultimate form of forcing your beliefs on them?

@MbmSava @CarnismDebunked Heri is obviously not vegan. He either misunderstands the entire concept of animal rights, or is part of the well known misinformation campaign online to undermine veganism. This is not the position of genuine vegan activists.

Carnivore is the ultimate vegan diet. Wait, hear me out. The three core goals of veganism: 1. Minimise animal suffering 2. Protect the environment 3. Optimise human health Let's do the maths. 1. Animal Deaths: Carnivore (2 lbs beef daily): 1.6 cows per year. Intentional. Quick. For eating. Vegan (400-600 lbs crops annually): Hundreds to thousands of small animal deaths from: - Mechanical harvesting (mice, rabbits, ground-nesting birds, insects) - Pesticides (billions of insects, poisoning of small mammals, fish, birds) - Habitat destruction (entire ecosystems cleared for monoculture) - Rodenticides (painful deaths over days) One causes 1.6 deaths. One causes hundreds to thousands. 2. Environment: Grass-fed beef: - Permanent pasture (carbon sink) - No ploughing (no carbon release) - No pesticides - No synthetic fertiliser - Builds topsoil - Supports biodiversity Industrial crop agriculture: - Annual ploughing (releases carbon) - Monoculture (ecological desert) - Heavy pesticides - Synthetic fertiliser (fossil fuels) - Destroys topsoil - Kills biodiversity 3. Human Health: Carnivore: All biomarkers improve, chronic diseases reverse, optimal nutrition. Vegan: Requires B12 supplementation (deficiency causes irreversible nerve damage), higher fracture risk, lower bone density, anaemia common. = So carnivore: Kills fewer animals ✓ Better for environment ✓ Optimises human health ✓ Achieves all three vegan goals better than veganism. Vegans are welcome to dispute this. With data. Not feelings.

When you buy British beef and lamb, you are not simply making a dietary choice that lands you the most nutrient dense food on the planet. You are casting a vote for a land management system that has been operating in this country for ten thousand years. You are voting for the permanent pasture that sequesters the carbon. For the fell farms that maintain the upland ecosystems that no government programme could replicate. For the coastal marshes managed by sheep that would cost millions in engineering to maintain otherwise. For the wildflower meadows that exist because cattle graze them. For the village landscapes that exist because cattle shaped them. For the welfare standards that took decades to build and are under quiet pressure from every trade deal that treats beef as a commodity rather than a product with a history. For the farmers who get up at 5am on a wet Tuesday in February because the fell needs managing and nobody else is going to do it. You are not buying protein. You are buying the countryside. The countryside is not guaranteed. Vote for it with your wallet.

Britain is 110% self-sufficient in lamb. Let that sink in for a moment. Not "pretty good." Not "mostly fine." One hundred and ten percent. We grow more than we eat and export the rest. We have done this on permanent upland pasture that cannot be used for anything else, managed by farmers whose families have worked the same ground for generations, using animals that have been optimised for these conditions over centuries. 85% self-sufficient in beef. 100% in milk. 90% in eggs. The animal products on your plate, if you're eating in Britain, are almost certainly British. The supply chain is: farm, abattoir, butcher or supermarket. Measured in miles. Sometimes in tens of miles. Now. Your January strawberries are from Egypt. Your year-round peppers are from Spain or Morocco. Your salad leaves are from Israel in winter. Your green beans come from Kenya. Your blueberries are from Peru or Chile. They travel by refrigerated air freight, which is roughly fifty times more carbon-intensive per kilogram than road transport, to sit in a plastic clam shell next to a small flag and the word "fresh." The environmental argument against British animal products is not an environmental argument. It is a geography argument made by people who have not checked where their food comes from. Check where your food comes from.

@BBCNews They were domesticated and eaten before all other animals that humans use for food, and continue to be eaten to this day.
