Christopher Nolan used to make movies like The Prestige. Then he made Inception, which was definitely unique and a cool mind bender. Then he made a movie about Matthew McConaughey ugly crying in outer space. Then he made a movie for himself, with impossible to hear dialogue and an even more impossible to understand premise. Then he made a porno pretending to be a movie about the atom bomb. Then he made a gay Odyssey. And that’s how you go from greatest director of a generation to satisfying the artistic tastes of David French.

"The Odyssey is doing well on Rotten Tomatoes." My guy, Rotten Tomatoes has been worthless for a decade at the very least. We KNOW they kowtow to pressure from Hollywood. Nolan's movie is pure Oscarbait. It's going to get the standard progressive ballwashing.

@IterIntellectus As a matter of principle you’re a coward. Posting behind an anime avatar and being faceless while virtue signaling to others. Sacred is going a bit too far. But I agree with you that there’s conflicting culture and themes in the movie.

one could try to explain that this is a matter of principle. that it’s an insult to everything the odyssey represents. that these people were cast with the sole intent of humiliating western culture and demonstrating that nothing sacred has to be treated with fidelity or respect. but they wouldn’t understand. the concepts of honor, principle, virtue, inheritance, respect are completely foreign to them. they cannot begin to understand why these casting choices invalidate every other artistic choice and make the movie utter garbage before you even watch it, so there’s no point arguing. they will eat their bread, watch their circuses, eat the bugs, live in their pods, watch the insulting movie and like it, plug themselves into the goonverse and be happy. but if you understand those words, and you understand why these casting choices were made, there may still be a future for you.
