Most people reading this don't understand what marriage is and simply LARP it quite badly. Marriage is a possessive relationship. The best ones are exactly that. You both have equal stake in each other your focuses are on each other at all times and not yourself. Having separate accounts completely destroys the project of marriage. You all know that, but you refuse to acknowledge it out of pride or the realization that you don't actually love or trust your spouse.

@OldHollowTree I am not a yurt guy, but my wife and I intended to put up a yurt while we built our house. My brother talked us out of it, so we lived in a moldly camper that made my wife sick for several years. I wish I had become a yurt guy.

@bebookled Walmart is selling $6 rotisseries and they will still get $6 from SNAP. It's not likely that it'll have a very sizable effect.

As if we needed more of a sign our civilization is in decline RIP $5 rotisserie This will be paid for, not by congress who I’m sure doesn’t buy the rotisserie and use every last ounce of it, but by my family and yours. Cannot articulate my absolute contempt for these ppl
U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

SNAP to include HOT ROTISSERIE CHICKEN. 384-35! Doesn’t only include my crew’s favorite + affordable $4.99 Costco rotisserie 😜 — but ANY hot rotisserie. Feeding families: a (rotisserie) chicken in every pot. 🇺🇸

@jeeeezpeej @kilovh You seem to think the book the comedian refers to is the Bible, but it isn't. He is saying our existence in the world is analogous to that of characters in a book.

@FreneticDust @kilovh Got dragged to church for 17 years. Believed. When I was 7 or 8 they tried to get me to speak in tongues. When it didn't work and I didn't mumble gibberish I knew it was all garbage. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@kilovh Tryin to look smart can make you look real fucking stupid. By his logic, the book he is talking about was actually written by *early* characters in the book. The book did not have a release, humans wrote it. Fuck outta here.

@acottagemouse I take in a ton of sodium, probably three or four times the "recommended" amount, and my blood tests are all totally normal. I exercise regularly and sweat a lot of it out.

Whenever I tell someone to consume more salt, they give me classic outdated AHA responses. People are SO conditioned to be anti-salt and act like horrible things will happen. Meanwhile, I’ll drink straight pickle juice and 1,000 mg of sodium a day with 200 mg of potassium and 60 mg magnesium, plus whatever I sprinkle on food! Unsalted butter??? Never heard of her

@ndmcafee @PhilipDBunn @jhimmelreich I do think that in part liberal arts colleges traditionally promised to train students up to be the kind of student that could write essays. It's not merely for those going intending to pursue the academy.

@PhilipDBunn @jhimmelreich For sure. But if the majority of students don't aim for that, even at liberal arts colleges, then there's an argument for shifting time towards practicing and evaluating their conversational skillset (e.g., seminar, presentations, oral exams, etc.).

John, per usual, gets it. Blue books are a good substitute for canvas exams students can cheat on. They are not a good substitute for research papers. If we sacrifice the essay writing process, we sacrifice education.
John Ehrett@johnehrett

Co-signed. This is my biggest hesitation with “just do bluebooks” as a response to AI cheating. There have to be workarounds though. Send students to the library and make them turn in their phones and draft on locked-down machines.

@shagbark_hick @MetzUAC1530 It's not like the church was uniform or stable before nor that many others had not come along to bring about huge reformations. Most did not result in such obvious schism, of course.

@MetzUAC1530 Genuinely would be interested in hearing a Protestant response to this. The idea that all of the sudden, a random guy (who wasn't even a prophet) had to come and do a massive full-scale remodel of 1500 years of Christianity seems really, really far-fetched to me.

@JSkeleton92 @RockWallBibles Okay, but did not Jesus use the title Kyrios (which translates Adonai) and never once in Scripture use the name YHWH?

@FreneticDust @RockWallBibles Jesus is God and can be argued that most appearances of God in the OT was the preincarnate Christ (regardless He is as much God as the Father & Spirit) and God gave His name in Exodus 3:14. Again, one is a title & one is a name. We shouldn't change that cause Pharisical Jews did.

The LSB translating the divine name as Yahweh instead of LORD is probably the most significant translation decision of the past 20 years.

@RockWallBibles There is no good reason we should be translating it as LORD (a title) opposed to YHWH (a name). It became Adonai (LORD) from Jews too scared to blaspheme (same kinds of Jews who think they can keep the law & same who would reject Christ). Crazy how many oppose using YHWH instead.

We don't talk enough about the value of "small Latin," an old expression connoting a limited knowledge of Latin, something short of a proficiency in reading Virgil or Cicero. It often focused on the simpler medieval Latin. It was (apparently) good enough for Shakespeare.
