@MarkLuymes Couple high flow Venturi’s with a high flow pump. Capable of inducting 2-3 high volume products while pump is running at full speed. Keep it simple and straight forward.

@14Ram Use heavy wire. Usually run 4-6 ga. That distance at 12v can cause issues when the wire is too small. Pumps seem to last longer. Have done a trickle charge off of the clearance light circuit to a battery as well. Just need a diode to prevent backflow of current.

Hey #CdnAg & beyond, I’m looking at wiring in a battery or set of terminals to run chem transfer pumps on the spray trailer next year. What’s worked for you to wire in a system? Getting tired of spooling cables out to the sprayer & blowing fuses.

@WheatPete Yes. First time in 5 years it hasn’t. Not a crop failure but no upside. Wish I would have went a later in the earlier planting. Have gone as late as a 1.4 in the past but getting wheat in gets tougher. Would have been fun to see if maturity could have overcame planting date.

A bit delayed but here are the results of our soybean variety plot planted on 2 separate dates. This was harvested after a rain. Prior to that rain everything but the later planted 08,09 and P09 were ready to go. At harvest the P09 still had some greens in the sample. @WheatPete

@Shawridgefarm The April 28 1.1 were ready to come off before the rain on the weekend, the May 16th 0.8 and 0.9s were still quite holding most of their leaves. Rain did even them out now but even with the cool May, the early planted are ahead in maturity.

@Shawridgefarm Definitely need to adjust maturity for earlier planting, for April I have gone as high as a 1.4 here but 1.1 more consistent choice for wheat planting. I need to get my plot off, April 28 planted 0.3-1.1RM behind it is May 16 0.3-0.9RM will tell an interesting story 1/2

3rd season in a row I have watched very early/early planted soybeans in our area flop/disappoint. Seems using maturities typical for the zone have those RM’s missing out on a chunk of reproduction season. If we keep pushing the early planted soybeans narrative should we be reevaluating bean maturities to capture the intended yield gain of early planting? Double edge sword of early harvest/wheat planting or gaining yield from longer maturities.

Was asked by a customer earlier this summer if we could help get rid of some old chem that came with farm he purchased. Today is the day they get taken to an @Cleanfarms collection point. These are a blast from the past.

@FieldwalkerAg Also there is very little ROI on collecting data. Need to be doing something with that data. Generally data collected just because we can isn’t that useful when the time comes to use it due to data cleanliness.

@FieldwalkerAg Been a couple years since I was in class 1. Industry is leading the way in this area, precision ag is very difficult to “prove” or put numbers to utilizing traditional small plot research. 2. Walk before you run, focus on smaller incremental changes, 1 variable at a time.

@FreyTodd The only cool Detroit. You'd be surprised how many series 60 Detroits are still out there in farm trucks. I know of at least 10. And some on the front of b trains too

@MarkLuymes @kyledecorte Here in Mapleton it’s usually either aminopyralid or aminocyclorachlor in combination with metsulfuron. The aminopyralid is usually what I blame it on. Usually just glad to see them spraying, the ditches were a mess here.

@kyledecorte Saw that last year here. But it was multiple fields along the gravel sideroads. tracked it down to the township spraying the ditches and big rain moved the chem and damaged beans where the water sat . Looked much like your picture. They wouldn’t tell me what they sprayed.
