1. Create a training environment that heightens the athlete’s awareness to the “flaw” 2. Ideally, the environment (not the coach) will give immediate feedback of what is “right” vs “wrong” 3. Peel back the constraint to test its impact on the athlete. Be strategic w/ this layer

What advice would you give to a coach that is looking to start using the Constraints Led Approach?

When @ThatGuy__Kai comes to your area, you show up, because he's got hands down the best system for teaching - in an engaging way - what athletic fielding performance looks like. Looking forward to it!

Infield coaches: Are you prescribing or suggesting the way your infielders wear their gloves? Traditional v 2 in pinky.

1st spring training since 1981 not as a player or manager, nice to be a spectator for once. Enjoyed watching Perry Hill work with infielders, this generations “George Kissell” @Mariners @Cardinals #MLB

@2025USElite Completely agreed. Coincidentally in this case all 4 runners were average and the speed of the ground ball & how far he had to go in/left were the bigger differences between these 4 specific plays.

@FridayFielders Great stuff! This is elite. Would LOVE to see a massive #fridayfielders return. Knowing the speed of the runner is also critical. Guessing we might have a speedster, a fast runner, an average runner, and a poor runner.

🎛 “Dancing to the song the game plays.” Number of post-field steps or shuffles isn’t the only way to speed up or slow down tempo. Here’s Jose Reyes altering his exchange height/location based on the tempo of play. Just Below Knee | Just Above Knee Belly Button | Chest + Tap

@INFchatter has remarked in the past that momentum influences posture which in-turn influences arm slot. As you see above, there’s also a correlation between exchange height & posture that impacts slot. Simply put: low exchange ≈ lower slot, high exchange ≈ high slot.

Being able to adjust the speed/location of your exchange is integral to sync up your 🤚🖐 w/ 👣. Top-L: low/quickest exchange w/ quick replace Top-R: quick exchange w/ replace Bottom-L: slower exchange w/ double replace Bottom-R: glove tap + chest w/ crossover into replace

📐“The Hard Reset” One of the best patterns for young INFs to learn, perfect combo of fast + controlled. - Attack & field on-the-run 1-handed - Change direction by going from big strides ➡️ choppy steps - Get your feet under your upper body & your R instep toward your target
