It is truly shocking that the public sector is repeatedly betraying current & future generations through the persistent destruction of vast areas of our natural capital resources - can we promote the introduction of an ecocide law?

This is just unbelievable. It cannot be allowed to happen How could anyone vote to include ancient woodland - 40 hectares and f it - in a Minerals Plan? @ReformUKKent @LeaderofKCC theguardian.com/environment/20… @CommunityPlann1

And communities are the only party in any proceedings that has to fund any legal action ourselves (typically c£60k). Developers use overheads & public bodies use public money - our money - funds that are not accessible to us - even when applications do not comply with policy!

Why aren't communities able to appeal a planning application that does not comply with development plan policy??? Developers have 6 MONTHS to appeal a decision and can appeal for any reason whatsoever. Communities have NO access to appeal, our ONLY option is to request a JR!

Greed is turning our green and pleasant land into a dust bowl. Water firms pay bonuses but fail to patch leaks and build reservoirs. Data centres consume millions of litres. Fossil fuel giants profit from a climate crisis they're fuelling. They get rich, we pay the price.

And we should be focusing on sustainable passenger and freight transport options, not dualling roads or building new ones! Ultimately the costs of unsustainable road schemes falls on the public purse, whether it is as a result of accidents or long term health conditions!
space for gosforth@space4gosforth

The lack of economic case was why A1 dualling was cancelled. The A1 needs safety improvements and fast. A focus on dualling will just delay this, and more people will be hurt as a result.

And despite this, all make eye-watering remuneration to CXOs - eg Severn Trent CEO Liv Garfield c£3.3m, Anglian Water CEO Mark Thurston c£1.9 million, Northumbrian Water CEO Heidi Mottram c£1.5 million - government policy making the rich even richer at our expense!

England water companies have breached official guidance on discharging sewage at 65 popular swimming sites since May. All water companies have criminal convictions, violated terms of their licence. All defended by govts, allowed to trade, inflict harms. morningstaronline.co.uk/article/water-…

The astronomical sums paid to water company executives are a perfect illustration of everything that is wrong with treating this essential public resource as a private commodity. theguardian.com/business/2026/…

The absurdities of trying to get profit motivated developers to solve our housing crisis just keep growing. We've now got thousands of new flats lying empty because they are so expensive and come with so many strings attached with their leaseholds, no one wants them.

This is so important. We could tell tech companies to use data centre designs that don’t require water for cooling. But we don’t. Why are we so scared of regulating them properly?
James Tate@JamesTate121

Data centers don’t “need” water. Billion-dollar corporations just need the cheapest cooling method available and apparently your town’s drinking supply is cheaper than redesigning the damn system.

@Paul__Browning_ So much countryside across the UK is being built on to make more money for developers, because they only build expensive houses that make them the most £££'s It's not about providing affordable housing for local people - nature being destroyed for profit petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7622…
