@Gingerblast Many have tried to make the illusive "wow killer" in the past 20 odd years. They all failed.

At this point, I'm holding out a small sliver of hope for some rabid classic wow fans to make an MM0 based around a new IP that applies the same design principles as classic wow. I think that the amount of custom wow servers out there have proven that the talent exists to make it happen. I put more stock in indie devs than blizzard at this point because the original wow team is gone and I don't have faith that the current team has the same design philosophies that the original team had in the early 00s. Yes there are other MMOs, but none have nailed the feeling of living in a world with a server community that you must interact with in the way classic wow did. The best parts of classic wow are absolutely replicable in another game, they just haven't been brought together in quite the right way yet. FFXIV did many things right but the forced story progression and the level every class on one character approach wasn't my speed, though I get why some really like this. Sadly, the biggest barrier is the cost of entry, MMOs are horribly expensive to make and monetization either needs to follow a f2p with microtransaction model or a sub model and I think both are off-putting to different people. The very public graveyard of dead MMOs is off-putting to investors and creators who want to be paid for their work, so it's unlikely that we'll get anything like classic wow again, but a girl can dream 💚
