Listen, I love Keith but he just asked in what year Cespedes carried the #Mets and then said Tobias Myers pitched two days ago (it's been five days). Gary is also losing his fastball when it comes to calls (pop-ups, dropped third strikes). The Twilight years folks #SNY

@GrykUnplugged Strange that Norton thought that Whitman was walking over the Brooklyn Bridge daily around the time he wrote Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. The title alone tells his location, plus the story he tells about the crowds lined up for the short trip across the river. He’s on the ferry!

Erratum: Whoops, the Brooklyn Bridge is only 143 years old. Old Walt Whitman was “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” 170 years ago!

Art as antidote to the anxiety of our doomscrolling era: #edwardnorton’s moving declamation last night on #thelateshow of #waltwhitman’s message of measured optimism to successive generations in “Crossing Brooklyn Bridge” penned 170 years ago. “Nor is it yours alone to see evil.”

Edward Norton on Wednesday night granted 'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert's wish, with a powerful reading of Walt Whitman's "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry." dlvr.it/TRZTyg

@RebeccaTucker85 @washghost1 Thanks @TimeOutNewYork for providing the incorrect information about fireworks visible from @bbpnyc and Dumbo. You caused a monumental traffic jam of disappointed people leaving the area just after midnight that lasted over an hour.

@RebeccaTucker85 @washghost1 The fireworks were over by Liberty Island. The gridlock on Old Fulton Street and Front Street just after midnight last night was epic.

An old St. George Hotel marquee above the Clark Street subway station entrance in Brooklyn Heights collapsed Sunday. Everyone is pointing fingers over who’s responsible for the disaster. curbed.com/article/brookl…

@LincolnRestler St. George Hotel Associates LLC is apparently run by Moshe Drizin, a notorious real estate owner from Crown Heights.

Unfortunately progress is moving much slower than it should be because St. George owner is failing to answer calls or show up on site. We will keep pushing to hold this negligent landlord accountable, to safely & swiftly reopen Clark St station, & improve conditions for riders.

We were onsite w/ @NYC_Buildings, @MTA, @nycemergencymgt this morning at Clark St station. We are pushing to get station reopened ASAP. Work starts shortly to reinforce temporary scaffolding at entrance on Clark St. Clearing of collapsed marquee on Henry will take longer.

@gregauman @NFLonFOX You wrote that they moved the PAT from 15 yard kicks to 33 yards in 2015. The change was from 20 yard kicks to 33 (ball snapped from the 15 instead of the 2 yard line).

We wrote about NFL defenses owning two-point conversions like never before in 2024 — take the Commanders, who held opponents to 1-for-9 conversions, using the same defensive look on six of the nine plays. “Those are game-winning plays.” @NFLonFOX: foxsports.com/stories/nfl/wh…

.@NYCBikeLanes @StreetsblogNYC Hey, these limo vans are on the sidewalk on Furman Street in a No Standing Zone. Do you go after hotels, or just auto repair shops?

The Fulton Ferry Pizza District has a new member joining the others in the area. A franchise of Patsy’s Pizzeria is coming to 7 Old Fulton Street. It’s also around the corner from Ignazio’s, down the block from Juliana’s and Grimaldi’s, and across the street from Spumoni Gardens.

@LincolnRestler It was traveling stern first (backward). There was never any plan to travel upriver under the bridge. The engine either cut out or got stuck in reverse.

The ship is approximately 150’ tall, so no matter where it was in the river it would have hit the bridge. The main point that is still not getting attention from major media is that it was traveling stern first (backward) due to engine failure.

The clearance in the center of the channel is approximately 126’. The tall ship lost power and drifted toward the Brooklyn tower, where the clearance is only 116’.

At approximately 8:20 Saturday night, the FDNY received a call that a boat struck the Brooklyn Bridge. There were 277 people on the boat. 27 people were removed for treatment.  “Originally, we  had a Brooklyn box out for folks in the water, for a boat in distress. Once the marine units arrived on scene, we knew immediately that we had a serious incident with a boat striking the bridge, so we had reports of people in the water. At that point coming down the FDR, we decided to have a dual command post, both on the Brooklyn side and the Manhattan side. Our marine units got out there, picked up Rescue 2 and Rescue 4 and brought them out to the vessel. They started to remove and treat the aided. They also brought EMS units out to the vessel to start to treat the more seriously injured people on that vessel. They brought them all here to Pier 16, where we set up a casualty collection point and an EMS staging area to assess the victims and send the most serious to the hospital right away. The police, fire and EMS did a tremendous job of working together to get everyone off of that  ship safe,” said Chief of Training Michael Meyers.
