“I was grateful to receive the news that Professor Susan Ostermann has declined the appointment to serve as the Director of the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies at the University of Notre Dame. I am very grateful to all the members of the Notre Dame community and beyond who, out of love for Notre Dame, expressed their opposition to the appointment.    The reason I opposed the appointment is because the appointment of persons to leadership positions at a Catholic university is an act of institutional witness, a mission-governance issue. Recently, in a public statement, a Notre Dame spokesperson said that, “Notre Dame’s commitment to upholding the inherent dignity of the human person and the sanctity of life at every stage is unwavering.” Clearly Notre Dame is reaffirming its fidelity to a core truth of Catholic social teaching that is central to the Church’s commitment to integral human development. I see Notre Dame living out this commitment through its many classes, activities, and programs which promote human life and dignity. That mission commitment is compromised when a Catholic university appoints leaders or bestows honors on those who act or speak against fundamental teachings of the Church. This is not an issue about academic freedom or scholarly engagement. Academic freedom protects inquiry. It does not require institutional self-contradiction.” Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades

Anyone else noticing an issue with flight prices over the last few hours? This flight went up $900 since 6pm. I can't even pull this up on the website; I just get errors. Had to use the app to find this.

@RepMarkPocan When I signed up for Medicare 2 years ago, I had to prove my USA citizenship to the SSA, by bringing in my passport to show them, because I received a letter that they were unable to prove my citizenship. Unbelievable, as I was born in the USA military hospital in Germany.

There seems to be some confusion about the SAVE America Act. If it becomes law, you will NOT be able to vote with your drivers license alone. You’d need: 1. A passport, which more than half of Americans don’t have and costs at least $130 OR 2. A birth certificate PLUS your photo ID with matching names, which nearly 70 million married women lack OR 3. Military services papers (not a military ID alone) with sensitive info. I’m voting NO.

I’ve seen posts saying the whole country is cheering for Indiana but I find that hard to believe. Tell me what state you are from and if you’re cheering for Miami or Indiana to win the championship
