They are buying your votes. This isn’t about giving struggling families help. This is about ‘making mornings easier for all families’. Do we really want the state doing everything for us? What about personal responsibility? How infantilising.

I too grew up in a working class family. I was one of 6 & we often struggled to have enough food go around. My parents never saw it as the schools job to give me breakfast tho. These days, there are food banks & charities popping up left right & centre and a welfare system bigger than grannies bloomers… If parents genuinely aren’t feeding their kids breakfast, they should be looked into. But no, instead it’s yet another parental responsibility that will be handed over to the state as we high-five ourselves and pretend it’s “free”. Sometimes I despair. And no, before some of you ask; I don’t think kids should starve… I simply think parents should be responsible for their own children. Old fashioned, I know 🤯

Splendid to hear from you, Michael. Since we’re talking about “delivery”, maybe we could review your “greatest hits” for Britain. Your role in austerity, the mishandling of Brexit, cancelling school building programmes, Covid VIP contracts… and too many others to mention…

No-one takes the decision to flee their home from persecution, with little more than the clothes on their back, unless their life depends on it. That’s why our approach to refugees must be rooted in compassion, empathy and humanity. Not division, prejudice or scaremongering.
