I am blessed to have been born into the greatest music ever created. I’m always bragging about the great Detroit Motown music of the 60’s. But the fantastic Philadelphia sound of the 70’s was just as amazing. Case in point: Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart) by the Stylistics.

W.C. Fields. I can't say I'm a fan. I can say that I haven't seen enough of his work as a motion picture star to make an informed decision. But I can't say I'm a fan....

@HistorylandHQ We had a Safeway in Brooklyn, on St. John’s Place in the early 1960’s. Then it disappeared. Found out Safeway decided to leave the East Coast.

Henry Hill, the real-life crime figure GoodFellas was based on, on what it was like seeing the film for the first time: "When I seen the movie, Warner Brothers had let me use the theater over there at the studio, and they said you can take as many people as you want. I think I took about half a dozen people. And I mean, I just sat there in shock. I mean, I couldn't believe it. It was just amazing how he was able to capture it. And then just pull away from it and let the audience see it. I mean, that's what amazes me, the way he captured a whole group of, you know, a bunch of us low life fucks... And then make a part of it human. It was a numbing feeling. It was so surreal. It was weird."

Living on my own in Brooklyn, barely out of high school, desperately hungry. The thing sitting in my desk drawer could be the way out. The frightening thing is how desperation can feel like an answer. Part of an audio clip of my story, ‘Pen In My Right Hand, Gun In My Left’.

I adore Pre-code movies cause so many of them will end with the most wildest moments you can possibly fathom because they had to squeeze in a shocking moment that would linger with the viewer by the end. In other news I just watched Three on a Match (1932). Good movie.
