Future Health is a global initiative by Abu Dhabi, advancing better health worldwide through collaboration and transformative innovation. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, healthcare specialists, investors and entrepreneurs, Future Health creates a platform to explore, connect and accelerate solutions that define what good health can look like for generations to come.

Meet the distinguished finalists of the Future Health Challenge, in collaboration with MIT Solve: Huna and Vector Control Innovations.​ ​Selected from 393 applications across 68 countries, both teams are using AI and population-level data to help health systems act earlier — before risks escalate into more serious health outcomes.​ Huna, based in Brazil, applies AI to routine blood test data to identify people at elevated cancer risk earlier and guide them into appropriate screening and care pathways. Its pilots have already screened more than 500,000 patients, helping detect cancers that may otherwise have been identified much later.​ Vector Control Innovations, based in the United States, developed VectorCam — an AI-enabled mosquito surveillance platform helping health systems detect changing vector risks earlier and target interventions before outbreaks spread. Meet the winner of the Future Health Challenge, in collaboration with MIT Solve: ThinkMD.​ Awarded the USD 200,000 grand prize at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, ThinkMD is helping frontline health workers deliver faster, more informed care through mobile clinical decision-support tools that improve triage, treatment and referral.​ But beyond supporting individual patients, the platform also turns routine care encounters into real-time population health signals — helping health systems detect emerging risks earlier. Alongside the 2026 Future Health Challenge winner, we’re recognising Vectorcam and Huna Cancer Navigator as the distinguished finalists of the Future Health Challenge. Each team has been awarded a USD 50K prize to support the next stage of their solutions, as well as access to a global network of policymakers, investors and health leaders.​ VectorCam is using AI-enabled mosquito surveillance to help health systems detect changing vector risks earlier and target interventions before outbreaks escalate. Field evaluations have shown data completeness improving from around 60% to more than 90%, strengthening both efficiency and outbreak intelligence.​ Meanwhile, Huna is applying AI to routine blood test data to identify elevated cancer risk earlier and guide patients into appropriate screening and care pathways. In Brazil alone, its pilots have screened more than 500,000 patients, with hundreds of cancer cases detected across deployments — many likely identified earlier than they otherwise would have been.​ Both teams are developing practical, data-driven approaches to detect health risks earlier and support faster, more informed decision-making across health systems — particularly in malaria and cancer prevention.​ Congratulations to both teams, and to all the innovators contributing to more proactive, data-driven approaches to better health.
