One thing not getting enough attention now that the U.S. has admitted to exterminating hundreds of elementary school girls is that many very powerful people lied about it. They knew it was on the target list, they knew they had launched the missiles, they knew the school had been hit multiple times. And they tried to hide it and deflect blame to boost support for the early days of the illegal war. In any reasonable society—as opposed to a deeply sick one where there is no pretense to caring about truth or accountability or law or justice—a lie of this magnitude would mark the end of a person’s public life and extensive public proceedings to uncover everyone involved and to eradicate the institutional arrangements capable of such crimes and corruption. It’s similar to the complete rejection of truth and accountability that I have seen in police and prison corruption/violence. In the most fascist corners of our society, the only principle is who has—and is willing to ruthlessly deploy—power over others. Once a society tolerates this kind of thing, it’s like a cancer that spreads and cannot be stopped.

The US and the Israeli regime have massive stockpiles of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. But the most lethal weapon in the hands of the US-Israel Axis and their media and corporate proxies is the engineered ignorance of the American people. In place of facts, history, geography, law, and ethics, Americans are raised on a diet of myths, lies, distortions, fear, and hatred of “the other.” The vacuum of their knowledge is then filled by corrupted US politicians and media corporations with the propaganda of the US empire and the hasbara of the Israeli regime, so that they can be manipulated into supporting any atrocity. The result is endless aggression, war, and genocide abroad and fomented bigotry, deprivation, and inequality at home. #FreeYourMind

An unarmed Iranian ship was invited, along with the U.S., to be part of an Indian Naval exercise, and its sailors paraded on land before the president. The U.S. at the last minute pulled out of the exercise and instead attacked the Iranian ship with a torpedo. Breaking with all norms of civilization and warfare, we then refused to rescue the drowning survivors. The Sri Lanka Navy was left to pull the dead bodies from the water. I am hard pressed to think of any other nation throughout history that would do something so cowardly and despicable. We are genuinely in a league of our own, and American media — mostly shrugging off the bombing of a girls school and acting as if carpet bombing Tehran is a normal military tactic — is deeply complicit.

To believe this is about drug smuggling, you have to ignore Trump’s pardon of the former Honduran president for drug smuggling. To believe it’s about Maduro’s democratic legitimacy, you have to believe Trump cares even slightly about democratic legitimacy. Alternatively:

Less lethal weapons have killed in the past. Emerson College journalism student Victoria Snelgrove was killed by a less lethal munition fired by BPD officers responding to a riot near Fenway Park spawned by unruly fans after the Red Sox beat the NY Yankees in 2004 @LAmag

@MicheleMcPhee @LAmag I was on Landsdowne during that. Heard the chants “You shot a girl!” . Was not a riot until BPD turned violent. They were shooting people with the weapons that killed Snelgrove as they tried to climb down the Green Monster. Fcking Ridiculous. 1/2

My mind was starting to wander near the end - and you mentioned it at the conclusion of your piece. Would this have been the biggest upset in #CawlidgeHawkey tourney history? Maybe... All I can remember is SCSU losing to someone and I want to say Minnesota losing to Yale - I think that may have been a 16/1 as well.
