How does Congress procedurally get back into regular session earlier than anticipated if they want to consider something like disaster aid but they've aren't scheduled to be here until after the election? It depends on how they got out of session. Quick thread. 1/

Among the forthcoming Supreme Court decisions is one that could have massive repercussions for legislators and executive branch officials. Thrilled to have GU Prof. Mark Richardson discuss the outlook for “Chevron deference” in this month’s newsletter gai.georgetown.edu/delegation-and…

Harsh but true. The GOP's Speaker drama has a striking lack of negotiation and compromise. Speakers are compromise candidates, never unanimously chosen. Rather, speakers broker, compromise, and negotiate their way to the gavel. As a whole, the House GOP is not doing this.

In my newsletter today, I wade into the debate over how much authority @PatrickMcHenry has right now in his position as Rule I, Clause 8(b)(3) Speaker pro tempore. Here's a quick tweetstorm covering the major points. 1/

A look at what Americans can expect in the looming shutdown, what’s funded and isn’t, and why. Plenty of unknowns, too! While there are things in common, different shutdowns are, well, different! theconversation.com/what-will-this…

Moderates make their threats public. The article references voting down the PQ to bring up a bipartisan funding bill. The faster route would be voting down the PQ to make in order a motion to concur with the Senate passed CR. axios.com/2023/09/26/rep…
