Only 10% of Aotearoa’s island land mass was predator-free as at 2014. This could increase to 50% by 2030 if Aotea Great Barrier Island and Rakiura Steward Island go predator-free.

On islands such as Great Mercury / Ahuahu, biosecurity dogs have been shown to be very helpful in dealing with a rodent incursion. “A dog is like a mobile trapping device.”
