I’m sat in my first Essex County Council meeting on Monday morning, listening to a councillor induction presentation. ‘Any questions?’ asks an officer. A hand goes up. ‘Yes’ says a recently elected Labour member. ‘Do I get a pension as a councillor?’. His first question was about how much money he gets. Not procedure, or meeting dates or where the loos are… but how much cash he can grab. Same old Labour.

The pound is down and borrowing costs are up as the Labour civil war erupts. That means higher taxes and bills for everyone. @AndyBurnhamGM are you still pretending this doesn’t matter?

@TreasureBoxing @KylewhiteNew He blamed the ash cloud on his loss to Kessler and the location on his loss to Ward! He definitely cared where they fought! Calzaghe has a better resume as well.

You can tell he genuinely liked the club and the stadium. Most managers who leave United talk about the pressure and politics. ETH talking about missing Old Trafford specifically feels like he actually connected with the place and the fans, even if results didn't hold up. But no one can say he left empty-handed. For a club that went 6 years without a trophy, winning 2 in 2 years matters. That's his legacy at Old Trafford.

HMRC have an impeccable sense of timing.

BREAKING: Angela Rayner tells @PaulBrandITV she has been cleared by HMRC of any wrongdoing over the purchase of her flat in Hove. She has now paid the outstanding £40,000 in stamp duty in full, with no additional financial penalty She tells ITV HMRC found that she had taken ‘reasonable care’ in the purchase of the flat and did not deliberately avoid paying tax It potentially clears the way for her to stand in the Labour leadership contest. She has ruled out a pact with Andy Burnham. “No... I’m not doing deals or anything like that.”  “Well, I welcome HMRC's conclusion. And they've said that there wasn't any wrongdoing and that I didn't try to avoid paying tax or I wasn't careless in the way in which I conducted myself at the time when I was in government … I've accepted HMRC's finding and I've never wanted to avoid paying my tax. “And for me, that was the most distressing thing, is that people felt that I was tax dodging or trying to set up trusts to avoid tax or being careless by not taking the appropriate advice. And HMRC have concluded that that isn't the case. “I’ve chosen not to tackle HMRC on the ambiguity of the law. I think that's the correct thing to do. I've chosen to pay that additional tax because I never want to not pay my taxes.”

Kemi Badenoch is on fire 🔥 Literally ripping into all the Labour MPs wanting Keir Starmer’s job and even a dig at Robert Jenrick. 🤣 This is brilliant stuff from the Conservative leader. Absolutely nailing it.

On behalf of their client, Zara Sultana, Bindmans Media and Information Law Practise Group requires that I publish the following statement on X, and that such statement must be clearly visible and pinned to my profile for a continuous period of no less than 24 hours: “On 30 March 2026, I published a post on my X account addressed to Zarah Sultana in which I stated that she encourages and incites violence and is friends with terrorists. Those statements are false. I was wrong and offer my sincere apologies to Ms Sultana for the harm and distress caused to her.” It is my very great pleasure to do this, and I reiterate my sincere and repeated offer to meet with Miss Zara Sultana in person to resolve our differences.

Keir admitted to denying visas of anyone set to speak at Unite the Kingdom rally, led by Tommy Robinson, this Saturday in London. Including Americans such as @JoeyMannarino and @ValentinaForUSA This is clearly a violation of the 1st amendment and exposes Keir as a liar.

@bhatti_saqib @JamesCleverly One more thing, because he’s very busy so I’ll answer for him. Of course he utterly condemns all racism and vile racist comments. As he has said. That’s why he spends so much time fighting for the Jewish community. Ends.

Hi Richard this is you last week with Phil Tierney who among other things has said Muslims like me shouldn’t hold public office and all mosques should be closed. Cllr Gethen turned up to one of my constituency events even though she isn’t a constituent and clearly was there to cause trouble. I had a private conversation with her and challenged her on her support and endorsement for Tierney. In fact I think I said “you need to sort the racism in your ranks.” She doubled down on her support for Tierney and then left. I had a number of SEND events that day with my constituents and will continue to do so in the future. I will go toe to toe with any Reform politician and will not stop standing up for parents and children with SEND and I won’t shy away from standing up to racism. Perhaps now, Richard, you can find your voice and finally condemn the racism by Tierney … although given your performance on Kuenssberg I won’t hold my breath dailymail.com/news/article-1…

Arguments against technology in football put to bed. An incident which has biggest impact ever on PL title and relegation. Firstly - ball over the line. Ref’s watch alerts. Then, despite the magnitude, VAR reaches correct decision. In the olden days… #whufc #thfc #afc #mcfc
