Germany in the OSCE

Today marks 50 yrs, since @OSCE basic document, the #HelsinkiFinalAct, was signed. 57 OSCE participating states are committed to the shared principles of the Helsinki Decalogue. As Russia is blatantly violating them, it is high time to reaffirm commitment and implementation.

#OSCE26CH | Glad that a consensus was reached on the 2026 Unified Budget, ending a 5-year stalemate. In times of tension, this shows that #dialogue and #compromise deliver. The #OSCE remains a key platform for co-operation and #security. #Switzerland is committed to strengthening its #ability to act.

The OSCE’s human dimension is central to our security. Today @DirectorODIHR Maria Telalian addressed the Permanent Council, outlining ODIHR’s work with states and with civil society to strengthen human rights, democracy and the rule of law across the OSCE region. 👇

On the basis of a Report on the HR-situation in Georgia under the @OSCE #MoscowMechanism, OSCE participating states called upon Georgia today to reinstate democratic norms and fundamental freedoms, incl. the release of political prisoners and repeal of problematic legislation.

📆Today saw the last security dialogue organized under the French 🇫🇷🇪🇺 chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC), dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Subregional Arms Control Agreement (Article IV of Annex 1-B of the Dayton Accords). This topic is of particular importance. Thirty years after its signing, this agreement is one of the few conventional arms control instruments in Europe to have been implemented continuously and effectively, contributing to military transparency and stabilization in the Western Balkans. Three speakers shared their analyses and feedback: • Katarina Djokić, researcher in the SIPRI Arms Transfers program • Lieutenant General (ret.) Michele Torres, former Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Article IV • Momir Brajić, Minister Counsellor and Head of the NATO and Partnership for Peace Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At today’s OSCE FSC Security Dialogue, participating States marked the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement’s Article IV sub-regional arms control arrangement – a key instrument for transparency, verification and military stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the war. As Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, such risk-reduction and arms control tools remain essential for European security. #OSCE26CH
