When GGA SARO’s CEO, Lonwabo Patrick Kulati, closed his opening remarks with “plus est en vous,” it was more than a French sentiment; it was a challenge. It was a reminder that the leadership required for Africa’s future is already within us, waiting for the right tools to be unlocked. Today marks the first installment of our unique, in-person workshop series in Johannesburg. These sessions serve as the critical scaffolding for the 2026 Africa’s Girl Child Dialogues. By gathering experts and peers now, we are moving past theory and into practice—equipping the next generation of African leaders with practical toolkits long before the main stage is set for October.

Thirty years of the Bill of Rights represents a generational covenant—a promise that the inherent worth of every South African is non-negotiable. Yet, as we reflect on the theme "Making Human Dignity Real," we recognise that dignity is impossible without the bedrock of good governance. Heartfelt celebration must be met with hard-hitting introspection: are our institutions robust enough to protect the vulnerable? Is our democracy serving the many, or the few? At Good Governance Africa, we view this anniversary as a call to action. We celebrate the progress of three decades while championing the systemic transparency and ethical leadership necessary to ensure that "Human Dignity" is not just a legal concept, but a lived, daily experience for all. #HumanRightsDay

South Africans haven't given up on the idea of democracy—they’ve given up on the version they’re currently being served. Since 1994, voter turnout has plummeted from 86% to a staggering 41% of the eligible population. Data Analyst Owami Tshuma digs into the data and observes a chilling trend: South Africans aren't switching sides; they’re switching off. With "party closeness" among the youth crashing from 68% to 35% in just six years, the democratic bond is fraying at the edges. As we move from one-party dominance to a fragmented coalition era, the question isn't just who will win the next election, but whether anyone will show up to vote at all. This is beyond voter apathy; it’s a calculated rejection of a system that prioritises "seat-fillers" over service delivery. From the ghost of the Van Zyl Slabbert commission to the looming 2026 local elections, it’s time to ask: is our party system a tool for stability, or a weapon for stifling the public will? gga.org/when-parties-s… @AuditorGen_SA #MadlangaCommission

What does good governance look like in daily life? It looks like a young woman who knows her value, masters her story, and presents herself with intention. Yesterday’s workshop in Johannesburg served as the critical foundation for the 2026 Africa’s Girl Child Dialogues, and we are bursting with pride at the calibre of engagement we witnessed. We owe a debt of gratitude to Zanele Molao (@EducationGP1) for her commitment to this vision, ensuring that our girls have the institutional backing they deserve. The day was filled with "lightbulb moments": Chrissy Dube (Good Governance Africa) reminded us that governance starts with the individual; Dr Reneé Minnaar PhD showed us how to turn a skills from any job into a LinkedIn and CV powerhouse; Alison Hassan (@EORecruitment) demystified the interview room; and Refiloe Sesoko (Phoenix Business Enterprise) turned the "dress-and-show" role-play into a lesson on commanding respect. To every participant who showed up with an open heart: thank you for proving that there is indeed "more in you".

Refiloe Sesoko and the participants at the Girl Child Dialogues took part in a dynamic 'dress-and-show' role-play. It was a hands-on way for the young ladies to experiment with professional attire and learn how to curate a wardrobe that balances personal style with workplace standards. #DressForSuccess #GirlChildDialogues #ProfessionalImage #MentorshipInAction

Some policy analyses age; others become prophetic. Originally published in October 2025 and recirculated now amidst escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Erika van der Merwe’s policy briefing addresses the changing operational reality for global shipping. As "Suez-linked" confidence erodes, this policy briefing moves past the "why" of the Cape diversion and focuses on the "how": how Southern Africa can institutionalise reliability through risk visibility and port service compliance: gga.org/the-cape-assur…

The National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 requires a collective commitment to translate goals into reality, and smart water meters are the "starting block" for our national water recovery. In a strategic partnership with Good Governance Africa, the Future of Sustainability Conference brings together 300+ senior decision-makers to solve the systemic factors compounding our water scarcity. This conference provides practical solutions based in African traditions that align with the efficiency gains seen in cities like London and Warsaw. Whether it’s pay-as-you-go systems or real-time leak detection, participation ensures organisations are positioned to attract climate adaptation funding and drive collective value creation: quicket.co.za/events/349423-… @Topco_Media

The bridge between policy and practice is built through collective action. Good Governance Africa is facilitating a unique series of quarterly, in-person workshops in Johannesburg as a critical foundation for the 2026 Africa’s Girl Child Dialogues Conference. These sessions offer an opportunity to work alongside experts and peers to tackle the systemic barriers facing the next generation of African leaders while gaining practical toolkits in gender-responsive governance. Instead of waiting for October to arrive, we are inviting professionals and advocates to start the work now, ensuring that our strategies are as robust as the challenges we aim to solve. Attendance is free, but registration is essential: gga.everlytic.net/public/forms/h…
