New paper from our lab, with Berfin Ozdemir, out now in Brain Research. We investigated the neuraldynamics of encoding and recognition memory across different visual stimuli using EEG and multivariate analysis. doi.org/10.1016/j.brai…

We found that emotional facial expression processing appears independent of low-level image properties and features from a neural network trained on face-identity recognition. Moreover, face-identity and face-sex information is strongest for angry faces. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Check out the bright waves, swirls, and vortices in Jupiter’s atmosphere — as well as the dark ring system, one million times fainter than the planet! Two moons of Jupiter, including one that’s only about 12 miles (20 km) across, are on the left.

Our results show that both RT and questionnaire data correlated with cross-classification performance – starting at ~200ms when personally familiar and the participants’ own faces were included, and between 400 and 600ms for celebrity faces only.

In our new preprint we show that neural patterns of shared face familiarity emerge for purely perceptually familiarized faces, no semantic information required. @AlexiaDalski has the thread ⬇️ biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New preprint by Géza Gergely Ambrus (@GGAmbrus), Gyula Kovács (@gkovacs1965) and me! 🥳In it, we explore if semantic information is necessary for shared face-familiarity signals to emerge. Feedback is welcome! 🧵 @AcademicEEG #FacePerception #EEG #MVPA #MachineLearning
