@GH2India & @IHFCA_ signs an MoU for a strategic partnership, which will be a landmark step in building deeper global collaboration in the hydrogen ecosystem.
This MoU was signed at the recently concluded Hydrosphere in Paris, France, by the two organisations in the presence of high-level representatives from the two organisations and the Chinese Mission in Paris.
Key highlights of this partnership:
- Mutual recognition and network access for members
- Joint events, workshops, and stakeholder convenings
- Sharing of global & regional hydrogen insights
- Opportunities for matchmaking and project collaboration
IHFCA is an influential international non-profit with over 100+ members across 21 countries, active across the full hydrogen value chain (from production to FCV deployment). For GH2 India and our community, this opens valuable pathways for knowledge exchange, standards alignment, co-innovation, and access to global markets.
We look forward to working closely with IHFCA to elevate India’s role in the global green hydrogen movement.

India is now the 3rd largest renewable energy producer in the world!
At India Energy Week in Goa this week we had a lot to celebrate:
* India has overtaken Germany to become the 3rd largest generator of electricity from wind and solar combined.
* In November 2025 India reached 253 gigawatt of installed renewable capacity - well on its way to the target of 500 by 2030.
* In 2025 non-fossil sources accounted for over 50% of total installed power capacity, five years ahead of 2030 target
* India's renewable energy capacity more than tripled in the last decade, growing from 76 gigawatt in 2014 to over 253 gigawatt by late 2025.
* 2025 was first year in modern history (except under covid) that coal consumption declined.
It was exciting to discuss how India can take the next step - and even surpass the US to become the second renewable nation.
I was privileged to join Green Hydrogen India with my friend Nishaanth Balashanmugam. It was inspiring to see how much Greenko Group, AM Green Group, ReNew, Adani Group and others do to help India take the lead in the green transition
Bravo Bharat!

On February 10th, GH2 India organized the Green Hydrogen India Symposium (GHIS)! A big thank you to all the industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders who joined us. From policy insights and electrolyser supply chain discussions to real-world project updates, the event was a deep dive into India’s evolving #GreenHydrogen ecosystem.
#KeyTakeaways
𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀:
• Green ammonia tenders in fertilizers will likely spur multiple developers to commence Phase 1 projects.
• Refinery tenders under the NGHM will further boost project take-off and facilitate price discovery.
𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀:
• Acceptance of the Renewable Energy Directives III by member states in the first half of 2025.
• The evolving U.S. regulatory landscape for green hydrogen.
• The International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s 2023 GHG emission reduction goals.
𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
• Long-term planning for hydrogen infrastructure must begin now to ensure the industry can thrive by the end of the decade.
𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
• Domestic demand has tremendous potential, especially as refineries adopt green hydrogen by 2030.
• Gaps between intent and action remain; bridging them is key to fully realizing local market opportunities.
𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀:
• Strong focus on electrolyser manufacturing localization is essential. Currently, India is about 25% short on indigenizing critical components across various technologies.
• Collaboration models are vital for shared vendor capabilities and for developing critical components like catalysts and membranes.
• Achieving economies of scale will require cohesive efforts from all industry players.
The energy and enthusiasm in the room were truly inspiring. Stay tuned for videos, and webinars where we’ll continue these conversations. In the meantime, check out some snapshots from the day below!
