i tipped a waiter $100 yesterday at one of my favourite spots and she just casually said “thank you sir” like it was nothing… that got me thinking, does she regularly get tips above $100 from men? my brain immediately asked one question: isn’t the average monthly wage around what i just tipped her or even less? yet she took it like it was nothing, like it was the standard and zoomed off. interesting. i remember when i used to tip $2, $5, $10 and the reaction would feel overwhelming, like they’d almost prostrate in gratitude. now it feels different, almost normalized. the gap is becoming more obvious. now imagine if i tipped just $2, she’d probably just give it back to me and say... sorry, give it to ur dog, sir. i think he needs it more... if that’s the baseline now, it says a lot about how fast things are shifting. if a waiter can humble me, how much more an average person? life is evolving so fast and the gap is widening in a way that no longer reflects the average person, not to mention the poor.

House agent told us ₦900,0000 for 2 bedroom flat. He mistakenly forwarded landlord’s Opay account details to me, I quickly screenshot it, he deleted it and resend his own. I call the landlord to make enquiry about the vacant flat. Landlord said ₦600,000. We transferred the money sharply. House agent kept disturbing us, I sent him receipt of payment….the werey blocked me. It’s been 3 years now, my landlord has not increased the rent.
