@MarioNawfal Macron’s reply is both élégant and à la hauteur. Hats off. History will struggle to believe the lunacy we are living through.
English

🚨🇫🇷🇺🇸 Trump said Macron's wife beats him up.
Macron's response: "Trump talks too much... his remarks are neither elegant nor up to the standard."
Macron told Trump that he has bad manners.
In French this is a declaration of war.

🚨🇺🇸🇫🇷 Trump just mocked Macron by saying his wife "treats him extremely badly" and he's "still recovering from the right to the jaw." Brigitte Macron is 71. Emmanuel Macron is 48. They have been married since 2007.

Ir is the “uneducated” element that scares me as much as the bigot, Trump simply knows nothing. He is being cheered by too many UK editors who hate our PM more than him…. but these editors have let the country down so many times… they backed Brexit…they created it… and this is the truth. It is a long time since we have editors educated in economics.

Personal View: BBC journalism is disgracefully maligned by my old newspaper world, by Trump and commercially-focussed idealogues, yet here at home I just watched @BowenBBC on Iran, followed by @FrankRGardner, followed by the wonderful @VitalyBBC from Kyiv…. I was in US last week… let me tell you NO news organisation is as good as this, no journalists as clear and free, the new DG needs to fill the newsroom with confidence and….defiance…. it is time to wave the BBC flag.

BREAKING: Massive Jeffrey Epstein BOMBSHELL drops as the pedophile's personal accountant reveals that Epstein's estate paid off one of Donald Trump's accusers.
This isn't a smoking gun, it's a smoking cannon....
Richard Kahn, who served as Epstein's accountant, testified before the House Oversight Committee earlier today. He worked with the billionaire predator for over a decade, offering him unique insight into his shady operations and business practices.
While more details will be released at a later date, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam took to X to share his notes from the deposition. He revealed that Kahn mentioned five "rich and powerful" parties who bankrolled Epstein's operations: Les Wexner, Glenn Dubin, Steven Sinofsky, the Rothschilds, and Leon Black. Kahn also mentioned former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak as having close financial ties to the pedophile.
"A Trump accuser has received $ from the survivor fund managed by Kahn," wrote Subramanyam.
"Guys like Kahn enable billionaires like Epstein to get away with crimes the other 99.9% of Americans couldn't," he added.
If Trump is innocent like he insists, why would his best friend Epstein being paying out money to his accuser? The answer is obvious. Trump is a serial sexual predator and pedophile.
The congressmen went into more detail when speaking with reporters—
“Another person who was an accuser of Donald Trump was given a settlement by Jeffrey Epstein’s estate. We did confirm that,” he said. When asked for more details, he demurred and said that it would be best to wait for the release of the transcript.
“We wanted to confirm that certain accusers had received settlements, and he confirmed that," he explained.
We already know that Trump's name is all over the Epstein files and he has been accused of heinous sexual abuse and rape. In one particular case, he was accused by a woman of sexually abusing her when she was only 13-years-old. Her allegation was so credible that the FBI interviewed her four times. Pam Bondi's Justice Department tried to bury the interviews, but they were eventually uncovered.
Enough is enough. An exhaustive investigation must be launched immediately and this accountant must be forced to reveal everything that he knows.
Please ❤️ and share to demand that Kahn be forced to reveal

@LizWebsterSBF @GeorgeMonbiot Of course Monbiot is on the money on this. What is shocking is not (just) what he describes but that this is so little known and understood - including in the White House, one suspects.
English

Huge moment from @GeorgeMonbiot on #BBCQT.
Britain and the US overthrew Iran’s elected leader Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953 after he nationalised oil.
The Shah followed. Then the 1979 revolution.
Decades later the consequences are still unfolding.
That’s imperial blowback.
Britain defended corporate oil interests abroad and yet at home we let our own resources flow into the global market instead of protecting national wealth.
History has consequences.

There has been no harsher critic to U.S. military action in Iran than Pope Leo XIV:
“War is back in vogue and a zeal for war is spreading. The principle established after the Second World War, which prohibited nations from using force to violate the borders of others, has been completely undermined.
“Peace is no longer sought as a gift and a desirable good in itself, or in the pursuit of the establishment of the ordered universe willed by God, with a more perfect form of justice among men and women.”
“Instead, peace is sought through weapons as a condition for asserting one’s own dominion.
“This gravely threatens the rule of law, which is the foundation of all peaceful civil coexistence.”

@simon_schama @MatthewdAncona I would really, really like to understand why you said that. What am I missing?

@ARLinklater Just caught up. Wonderful obit. Hugely informative and a delight to read. One of those “why do the rest of us bother trying to write?” pieces.
English

Times obituaries are meant to be anonymous, but this is so good I need to boast that it was written by my father, Magnus Linklater, who has penned hundreds of such mini-biographies over the years, but few as important to Scottish culture as this one.
