I think the discontinuation syndrome with antidepressants is overrated. In my clinical practice I don't see all patients going throught it even with sudden stoppage.

Dr Nigel Speight explains why the term ME carries more weight than “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome” and how it would be like renaming Alzheimer’s “Chronic Forgetfulness Syndrome”.
He also describes how a boy’s CFS diagnosis was weakened, leaving the family open to prosecution.
My top 5 horror movies:
1. Being chronically ill
2. Having chronic illnesses
3. Not being believed for having chronic illnesses
4. Being judged for being chronically ill
5. Being chronically ill
Did your Doctor tell you if you take antidepressants for longer than 2 years the risk of a difficult withdrawal is around 80%? Slow tapering is essential to prevent years of neurological dysfunction.
Ssri's change how your brain functions over time causing a physical dependence on the drug. Take it away and your nervous system has to restablish "factory settings" that can take months/years for recovery.
Today l turn 30 and say goodbye to my 20s forever.
I lost the first half of my twenties to a severely abusive relationship and the second half of my twenties to ME/CFS.
I am grieving the loss of what should’ve been the prime of my life.
I am ten years off of all psychiatric drugs this week, after being polydrugged by psychiatry for 25 years.
Here’s what I want to say:
To my ex treating psychiatrist, who diagnosed me with “bipolar” disorder when I was in the middle of acute benzo withdrawal, then a few months later, threw up his hands in exasperation at me and said “I don’t know what to do with you Ali. These drugs work for everybody else,” and then scheduled me for ECT….
You lied. The year that you said that to me I found out later you had two of your patients take their own lives. You are ignorant and dangerous and I proved you wrong.
To my ex treating therapist, Dr. P., who saw me for years, knew the physical abuse I endured, the chaos, the family history of wife and child abuse and all of the infidelities, and yet, somehow disguised me with “genetic mental illness,” and made me repeat after her: “My name is Ali. I have a genetic mental illness that will require medication for the rest of my life,” even though I told you the drugs made me feel weird. When I told her I was trying to come off of the drugs and treat it more holistically she laughed me and said that was just silly.
You were wrong, you are ignorant, and you are also harmful.
You both pulled me into an underworld of disconnection, soul crushing pain for decades.
May karma find you both in a dark alley.
Gotten hardcore to the point now, while I crave sleep so bad all day long, I now no longer going to sleep, because of the horror it will bring up on waking. Poisoned. Racing thoughts. Pain. Exhaustion
Sleep is bring me no value in return
I hate this life
@Dfrizz007 Yet we crave sleep in the hopes that will make us as close to normal as it can be. With a humor flavour, maybe we should catch covid again. Who knows, maybe this time the virus will reset our nervous system to our advantage 😂 lol

Ο ένας γιατρός μου λέει ότι είναι περίεργο που έχω Ινομυαλγια γιατί αυτό το παθαίνουν οι 60+, οι υπόλοιποι μου λένε ότι ινομυαλγια παθαίνουν συνήθως οι γυναίκες μεταξύ 30 και 60 ετών…. Ρε σείς δεν έχετε όλοι τα ίδια βιβλια στην ιατρική; Ο καθένας τα δικά του διαβάζει;

Doctor: "What can I do for you."
Patient: "My dog died. I can't stop crying."
Doctor: "How long has the low mood been going on."
Patient: "Six days."
Doctor: "I'll start you on an SSRI."
[six months later]
Patient: "I don't feel sad. I don't feel happy either."
Doctor: "That suggests it's working."
Patient: "I can't get an erection."
Doctor: "Sildenafil."
Patient: "I sweat through my shirts."
Doctor: "Switch to a different SSRI."
Patient: "I've put on three stone."
Doctor: "We can add a GLP-1."
Patient: "I'd like to come off all of it."
Doctor: "Let's cross-taper to a third SSRI."
Patient: "That's swapping, not stopping."
Doctor: "It's the same thing, gradually."
Patient: "I tried stopping. I get electric shocks in my head."
Doctor: "That's your depression returning."
Patient: "I started this for a dog."
Doctor: "We can review in six weeks."
@Davemconte Thats exactly what i believed without knowing your NIH head in USA. If >40% or even 30% of the population was suffering from this,it would be such a large percentage that they would have no choice to research for obvious reasons but since its a fraction of the human population...
I read something a few years ago that said Fauci, the former head of the NIH here, said decades ago that ME/CFS was too difficult to solve and then he basically abandoned or got rid of the few small ME/CFS research programs they had at the time. I don’t know if that’s true or not. I think people like him absolutely know it’s real, they just didn’t want to invest the money, clearly.
