Happy women’s day to sex workers, today and forever.

Today is International Sex Worker’s Rights Day. Criminalization harms sex workers by removing their basic human rights, safety, agency and autonomy. We stand in solidarity with sex workers around the world who are fighting for our rights and an end to criminalization and stigma.

Intersecting forms of stigma, discrimination and criminalization deny sex workers the right to protect their health. Yet, 168 countries still criminalize some aspect of sex work. This International Sex Workers Rights Day, we call for the protection of their right to health.

In 2001, over 25,000 s*x w*rkers gathered in India for a festival, despite efforts from prohibitionist groups to have their permit revoked. The 3rd of March has since become known as International S*x W*rkers' Rights Day, and serves as a reminder for us all to keep fighting for s*x w*rker rights, safety and bodily autonomy. S*x w*rker rights are human rights!

17th December marks International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. Today we remember all the SWs in the local community and beyond who have lost their lives due to violence. We mourn these lives needlessly lost & stand in solidarity w those experiencing ongoing violence.

December 17 is recognized worldwide as the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers - a day of remembrance, resistance, and solidarity. It began in 2003 in San Francisco as a memorial for the victims of the Green River Killer.

Tomorrow is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, a time to honour those that have experienced violence or been killed during the year, & to call for the decriminalisation of sex work to protect and fulfil sex workers' human rights. nswp.org/event/internat…
