Dr Ralph Saubern from Aust Council Ed Research calling it like it is. All AI is doing is highlighting "very bad assessment practice" 12 weeks learning and an essay no more. #edutech2023

The Twitter (or is it X?) bin fire continues. I think it's time to make the move and build up who I follow over there. Follow me at: @garethl@aus.social Let me know your ID if you are on the #fediverse

@MarkRobinsonNI If that sign was a website it would fail accessibility standards with that black/grey text on a brown background. The same principles should apply in real life. Pretty fundamental contrast issues there.

Over £150k for 11 signs, 11 terrible signs that won’t last long due to people’s outrage. Rates increase 5.59% in the district area. Got told today our park won’t get full upgrade as there isn’t £££ left to do it. As it’s last on the list. Standard.

Our university is considering asking for the ability to disable the Tii AI detection tool . I've been following guidance from specialists across the sector and am keen to hear further opinions. What is your position? What is your university going to do about it? Many thanks!

Turnitin locking in AI detection (giving institutions no choice to turn it off) seems to me like a last ditch, all-in effort to remain relevant. How about you?

We won! Turnitin is notifying schools that they can opt out of the AI Writing Detection tool. Congratulations to everyone that worked on this, and helped spread the word!

@timbocop We just found out this afternoon that it won't be able to be disabled. Rather disappointing. We're now working on some guidance to coincide with the release. Surely something so hot potato should be 'opt in' or at the very least admin controlled by individual institutions.

Hot topic of discussion! How do you engage students in an LMS? The LMS is often treated like an afterthought with learner engagement, but it should be central to the learners experience. #EduTECH2022
