@Jan_Leeming You're absolutely right. I do have pet insurance, but Jess is approx 14 (rescue so it's a guess), so higher premium & excess. I'm lucky that she requires no special (expensive) food - yet! Dogs are a huge asset in many lives, so some financial support should be available.

Yet again shelters full of dogs brought in ‘cos owners can’t afford to keep them. Take on a pet you MUST consider cost; insurance, Vet bills, food, grooming. Insurance for DiDee-almost £1000 and even not covered for dental etc. Now at 8 regarded as ‘old dog’ so excess +extra 20%
