I think we also didn't kill off enough games early on to be able to test things out in the last 20 or something. Our forwards going on scoring droughts has had 2nd order effects..

Steam Controller not supporting X or Dinput despite it being the norm in $20 Aliexpress controllers is a detriment.

@GNeurons @GamingSinceNES No, you can also use any other software that does the same thing. Which is what people have had to do with PlayStation controllers for over a decade.
Steam Input is just the best option because you already need it to use more than half the features that the Controller has.

Wait, I just realized, if you buy the Steam Controller, you can't just play GamePass games with it by default.
You'd have to ADD the game to Steam, launch it through there to get it to work.
Not the biggest deal but a seemingly unnecessary step that can get annoying quick.

@GNeurons @GamingSinceNES The controller itself doesn't have Xinput support at all. But if you set set the controller profile in Steam Input to a generic Xbox controller Steam will emulate Xinput across the PC.
You'll only need to have Steam open in the background, not add games as non- Steam games.

@O107_ @GamingSinceNES I mean you can at least have it work Xinput even if some features don't work? Lots of Chinese PC controllers have features that the Xbox controller doesn't while supporting Xinput.

There are many controllers that require special software to get their stuff to work. This is no different.
Sony even had to get Microsoft to write and certify a special driver to get the Dual Sense to work.
