@CedarPosts I grew up in the Carolina’s and we never flew a confederate flag because we don’t associate with losers. That’s what the confederates were: losers. Big time.

Last week liberals had a melt down over a Confederate Flag flying proudly in the wind on Lake Norman and visible from I-77. A couple of libs even called NC SHP and 911 to report the flag, then expressed outrage that the cops wouldn’t do anything. I realize this is a shock to Yankee transplants and West Coasters. But if you get off the interstates and drive across the Carolinas on secondary roads you’ll quickly realize these flags are pretty darn common. Trust me no one’s going to steal your children or burn a cross in your front yard. In the South people continue to fly the Confederate flag primarily as a symbol of Southern heritage, local pride, and regional identity, often honoring ancestors who fought in the Civil War. Others use it to represent rebellion, cherished rural lifestyle, or a desire for limited government. But be warned it is also a flashing reminder that FA/FO applies big time in rural Carolinas. Y’all come back now ya hear!

The math is right but the premise has a hidden variable time. You spend more waking hours at work than anywhere else in your life. Choosing to spend the majority of your conscious existence somewhere you don’t like, for decades, is a cost that never appears on a salary slip but accumulates somewhere far more expensive.

This may not be popular, but I'm going to say it anyway: I'd much rather work a $120,000/year job I don't like than a $60,000/year job that I love.

I am a Christian, and I have two daughters. Both my daughters attend public school. When my daughters were old enough to go to school I felt so much pressure from the Christian culture to homeschool them. I went to public school and had a really good experience, but everyone was treating public school like it was the devils playground. I tried to homeschool my oldest in preschool and I realized how terribly unequipped I was to teach. I didn’t have the discipline, nor the mental capacity to teach from home. I think public school is great. The teachers are all so intentional, the school counselors are lovely, and their principal remembers their names and things about them. We are very involved parents. We go on field trips, take them to school events, and go to all their conferences. Honestly, public school gets way too much hate.
