@BenAllenGP Tried advocating -accused “want mum to die “ she didn’t ( great ) at what cost for her ? Worse dementia , severe thrush ( 9days IV ) no mobility, distress and misery . Absolutely not what truly matters for her . ? How toPrevent repeat ? Relatives hear “ reversible” only .

@BenAllenGP So much is based on the language used “ this presents as reversible sepsis so needs hospital asap “ 90yr yr ACP “no admissions lifetime hatred of hospital” . No discussion re what matters - urgency to get in “ or may be too late “ 1/2

⭐️What takes minutes & could save 1000s of unhelpful admissions?⭐️ I often hear (usually older) patients being told "𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥". Which is rarely true. 1/11

CPR is not a treatment for #ordinarydying. Every instance of futile CPR - which is what will happen if nobody has sorted out the protection of a DNACPR for someone whose life is coming to an end - is a tragedy. Please, doctors, nurses, patients, families - #havetheconversation.
