Great to join @esherchamber hosted by Ramon at Hummings and chaired by Kay Stewart - to discuss plans for funding Christmas lights, and concerns about Elmbridge borough council’s plans to hike car parking charges.

@GRTong @Oliver___Brett Cricket isn’t a level playing field though - never has been. I agree dew is a factor which shouldn’t play as big a part, but part of cricket’s charm is the changing conditions: pitch, overheads, different balls swinging etc.

In baseball they replace the ball every time it hits the ground. Should do the same in cricket when the ground is wet from dew.

@extremecompute @GRTong @MartinDaubney Second hand car prices are also rapidly rising. Many people buy cars for less than a £1000 And depend on them for work & transporting their families, because especially in rural areas public transport has for decades been underfunded & is inadequate.

There is a war on motorists, as the “climate emergency” brigade dress taxation as salvation 1. 'Truly dark day for drivers' as petrol prices hit record high in UK 2. ULEZ means 1000s of Londoners must pay £12.50/day to drive. Coming to your town next! news.sky.com/story/truly-da…

@extremecompute @MartinDaubney Depends if you prioritise health or finances I guess. I don’t think those 13% will only just be poor people. Usually if you are that poor you’ll rely on public transport anyway

@extremecompute @MartinDaubney Surely the 4 year period would have allowed or gone some way to allowing older deigns to be replaced naturally? 87% of cars meet the requirements already. So scheme seems to have tried to take that into account
