Lewis's Space Trilogy explicitly refers to at the very least 7 genders. Tolkien and Lewis were friends with queer people in their time, and yes, both were religious, but religiousness need not necessitate bigotry.
Ian Harber@ianharber

Cancelling Harry Potter because of Rowling but remaking/doing spin offs of Narnia and LOTR despite Lewis and Tolkien being two of the most prominent Christian figures of the last century who undoubtedly share Rowling’s views she’s been cancelled for. Make it make sense.

2016 was the most absurd and consequential election. Hillary tarred for crime bill that Bernie voted for. Trump recovered from p*ssy comments but we are still talking about “deplorables.” Within months, Trump officials caught using personal email accounts, media no longer cared.
Centrism Fan Acct 🔹@Wilson__Valdez

Remembering when Hillary was tarred for the crime bill (that was passed while she was first lady) but Bernie, who actually voted for it and had associated 'tough on crime' rhetoric, just got a complete pass because.....reasons.

it continues to puzzle, year after year. when Biden stuttered, that made headlines; when T***p exhibits unmistakable signs of cognitive impairment, not even to mention the malice of his (unfiltered) ill nature, & his evident cluelessness in profoundly serious matters like US military being sent to Iran, mainstream media pretends not to notice.
Hermit's Mom 🍁🐕🐈@NotWhoY60646572

@JoyceCarolOates I never understood why the mainstream media talks about this guy like he's just another, normal president. Don't they see what we see? Don't they hear what we hear? 🙈🙉🙊

As a native New Yorker, I’ve never cared for the ‘when does a transplant become a real New Yorker’ discourse. You’re here now? Great! You’re gonna love it. Walk faster.

It sucks that instead of making their book search functions useful to customers, Amazon is wringing out extra pennies by doing paid promotion of AI slop. slowboring.com/p/unrealistic-…

I know it's boring and repetitive to talk about how grossly evil Trump is, but the fact remains: Trump is grossly evil, in a way that's pretty much unprecedented in this country.

@mattyglesias Yeah. It’s an unnecessary remake of a classic movie. And strike 2, it’s a musical…

Stephen Spielberg probably doesn’t need my help but the West Side Story remake is badly underrated and underseen.

This is like the 8th time just during Trump's current term that Dems have gotten an unequivocal W from the minority. The house has passed like 5 discharge petitions alone, do you pay attention to politics or just find a bunch of keywords to wrap around the core idea "Dems bad"?

Hochul proposed a no-brainer plan to streamline housing that is supported by Zohran and basically every major elected official in NYC. so of course, the legislature is inexplicably trying to completely gut the bill. beyond parody. for some reason they think good things are bad.
Bernadette Hogan@bern_hogan

SEQRA negotiations are far from done. -@GovKathyHochul wants broad scope to build housing/bike paths/childcare centers -Senate prefers to limit locations/focus on housing -Assembly wants to limit locations, prevailing wage & 2029 sunset. Draft proposal: ny1.com/nyc/all-boroug…

Thanks to the new @esoltas & Gruber paper, we now have a calibrated econ model built on LA data that can be localized to NYC conditions @NYCMayor's plans to cut 2.5 years off permitting timelines in NYC would be equivalent to a ~20% percent drop in construction costs 🤯

In 20 years, the Shenzhen Metro has grown from a modest, two-line system into one of the world's most expansive urban networks. But its story is not just one of scale. It's one of design: stations that increasingly resemble civic landmarks instead of utilitarian infrastructure.🧵
