I think you’re also underestimating how many professionals rely on 3rd party financing to be able to play.

Maybe less patches is good for the biggest series of poker in the world, and optically more welcoming for the optional player. It’s possible this is the overall strategy by some sharp marketing brains they’ve brought in!
I don’t think being barred from wearing a patch, should deter any professional from doing their job. Is your sponsor saying you can’t play without one? That’s not ok. Or you are saying you won’t play without one? That’s strange and oddly sacrificial

Re: @25kfantasy not sure what/if I’ll play. Currently been denied to wear a patch, which I believe can lead to disqualification at the tournament directors discretion. I imagine, as with a lot of other players, this will complicate things. I understand and respect WSOP is more GGlive now and won’t break the rules. The rules are the rules, I’ll respect them even if I disagree with them. I do think that sites are extremely demotivated to invest in players in our space when the flagship series restricts outside investment. Probably playing $200 daily with Brad Owen at New Orleans. Good luck everybody at the draft & at the series.

UK: 43k USD
it’s surprising to me that going individual -> household sees a +$31k bump in the US but only +$6k bump in the UK
adjusted for PPP closes this gap but the US still comes out ahead

Get ready for what’s gonna be a VERY unpopular opinion. If it’s true that Maurice’s backer chose (or was forced ) to stop backing him, Maurice’s makeup figure should have been wiped clean. I’ve been in both sides of staking for 30 years. If the backer chooses to stop backing the player, the makeup figure is washed clean. This is regular practice in the poker world.
