Private-sector job growth as measured by ADP was negative in September and contracted in three of the last four months. Normally this number is quickly forgotten because the BLS jobs report follows two days later, but with the government shutdown, this may be it for a bit.

ADP revisions for Aug (-3K private sector jobs vs an earlier estimate of +54K) lowered the three-month average for that series to +26.7K from +45.7K. That brings it closer to BLS's +29.3K for the same period. Sept was -32K for ADP, lowering the three-month average to +23.6K

Great chat with @LSEGplc ceo David Schwimmer today on the TINA predicament facing investors wary of the dollar right now: There Is No Alternative
GU Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy@GUFinPolicy

Other alternatives are trying to chip away at the dollar's power but any changes will likely be small. While the Euro is the closest contender today, Schwimmer told @lizrhoffman the Chinese Yuan faces challenges related to capital controls and the Japanese Yen doesn't have a large enough market.
