As the new playmaker for the Tide, his usage has skyrocketed; leading to 32 PA vs Florida State in an exhibition, 21 PA in an exhibition against Furman, and 30 PA against North Dakota in the season opener. Against North Dakota, Philon had a 27% usage rate and with Alabama coming into Madison Square Garden to take on the Johnnies on national tv, Philon's usage will continue to surge. Last season, when Philon had at least a 20% usage rate plus a minimum of 25 minutes, he put up huge numbers: UK: 25 PA in 26 mins Texas: 19 PA in 25 mins UF: 23 PA in 25 mins South Dakota: 27 PA in 27 mins In games with 24%+ usage: Auburn: 18 PA in 35 mins Purdue: 22 PA in 27 mins Duke: 19 PA in 31 mins Illinois: 25 PA in 32 mins These impressive numbers were put up despite a high usage player in Mark Sears being the engine to last season's team. Philon steps into this role this season and we can expect him to play almost the entire game. Another thing to take note of is the injury report for Alabama. Aden Holloway and Latrell Wrightsell both missed Alabama's opener and are expected to be back tomorrow. Philon's assist rate should skyrocket as both are great shooters from behind the arc. Holloway shot 41.5% last season and Wrightsell has been a sniper the past three seasons, averaging 41.7%. Zion: "The Pelicans embraced me and I told them I wasn't going to let them down. If they believed in me that much, it helped a lot that they really believed in me.
