In my opinion this decision to go this early is as much about keeping Merrett and Ridley as the coaching performance in itself.

Brad Scott is likely to be fired soon, but I’m incredulous to see him getting blamed for tonight. We lost Guelfi inside 2 minutes, one of our best mids in Duz in the 1Q & our skipper 15 odd minutes before HT. Brad will be moved on at some stage, but even prime Sheeds would have struggled to overcome in-game injuries like that

Essendon should be contacting James Kelly to cancel his 2027 plans. Pops is the best man for the Dons top job. He came to Essendon as a top-up player & made such a strong impression as both a player & leader, we gave him an additional year on the list & a coaching position upon retirement. He spent three years with us before moving back to Geelong in 2022, becoming a key assistant under Chris Scott. He already had the footy IQ, great leadership credentials and an intimate knowledge of Essendon. He ticks so many boxes for us - we need a coach with a fresh voice and ability to unite a young list ❤️🖤

There is every likelihood that the Dons may finish this season with no more than 3 wins. That would be 3 out of 36 since last year’s losing streak began. Is it time for the club to swallow its pride and seek a First Round Priority Pick in this year’s Draft?
