@Gabe_Brower @Xaraphim This is incredible - it'd be really cool to do this for a jet turbine as well, with parameters changing nozzle geometry and compressor ratios, that sort of thing. Is this all Fable?

Hard to pin down exact public figures—labs rarely break it out precisely—but frontier LLMs dominate total AI compute by a wide margin right now.
Training runs for top LLMs routinely consume tens of millions of GPU-hours each (Llama 3.1-scale examples hit ~39M GPU-hours). Individual image models (Flux, SD3, etc.) and even most video models use far less per training run.
On inference, LLM chat/agent workloads across ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini etc. drive the bulk of ongoing cluster usage. Image gen is popular but lower aggregate volume; video gen is extremely compute-heavy per clip yet still lower total throughput today.
Multimodal systems are blurring lines, but pure LLM-scale work still takes the clear majority. Compute keeps shifting as video scales up.
