Every year, on the first Sunday of August, we congratulate our warriors of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their professional holiday and thank them for their protection. We thank our pilots, air defense personnel, mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft gunners, radio engineering units, engineers, and everyone who does their part to make Ukraine stronger. Thousands of combat sorties, thousands of targets intercepted, and thanks to that, thousands of lives protected. Over the years of the war, our Air Force has grown significantly stronger. We have received modern combat aircraft and effective air defense systems. There are still not enough of these systems to protect our entire sky from Russian missiles, but today Ukraine's air shield is already one of the strongest in Europe. And that is thanks to the professionalism and experience of our warriors, who have proven it time and again by intercepting even the most challenging targets despite shortages of one type of equipment or another. I thank every man and woman who defends our skies and does everything every day to keep Ukrainians safe. And we will always honor the memory of all those who gave their lives defending Ukraine. Eternal memory to the heroes. Glory to our warriors! Glory to Ukraine!

Romania strongly condemns Russia's massive, reckless overnight strikes. By violating Poland's airspace and damaging the Lithuanian Embassy in Kyiv, Russia continues its irresponsible attacks with highly dangerous consequences for regional and Euro-Atlantic security. Russia must stop these senseless actions that only prolong an appalling war, causing severe negative impacts for everyone involved and beyond. Since last night, response efforts have been underway in Kyiv and the surrounding region following Russia’s strike. There were numerous fires across the city. Seven districts were affected, and, as usual, the Russians struck ordinary residential buildings. Eighteen residential buildings, a school, the Lithuanian Embassy, and infrastructure facilities were damaged. As of now, nine people have been reported killed in this attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Dozens of people were injured. Medical teams are helping everyone who needs it. Overnight, the Russians launched 35 missiles at Ukraine, including 27 ballistic missiles, as well as 185 attack drones of various types. Kyiv was the primary target, but strikes also hit the Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. Only one ballistic missile was intercepted, simply because there are no interceptors for the Patriot systems. And it is this shortage of ballistic missile interceptors that only encourages Russia to launch such attacks that take human lives. It is critical that partners hear that these capabilities are needed not somewhere in stockpiles for hypothetical scenarios, but here and now, to contain and stop the Russian war in Ukraine. Every package of ballistic missile interceptors saves the lives of our people. And every night without them results in more casualties. I thank everyone who is working to strengthen our defenses.

This night in Kyiv russia killed 9 people, injured 30. Out of 27 ballistic missiles we were able to take down only one due to the shortage of Patriot interceptors. When we say it is urgent to get more of anti-ballistic defense systems, this is what we mean.

Ukraine’s experience in technology-driven warfare will help shape the security standards of the 21st century. Technology isn’t an end in itself. Its purpose is to ensure that every Ukrainian service member comes home alive. That’s why robots and drones should fight wherever they can. The first stage is the robotization of the battlefield. ‼️10 members of one family—3 generations—were killed in a russian missile strike overnight on Thu., July 30, 2026. So far, 5 family members near Kryvyi Rih have been confirmed dead after a direct missile hit turned their home into a mass grave. The missile struck with such force that almost nothing was left of the house. Human remains were found under the rubble, and forensic experts will have to identify which family members they belong to. The recovered bodies include the parents—Olena Voronova, 41, and Artem Voronov, 47—and 3 of their children:Emilia, 6; Azarii Ilai, 11; and Mark, 17. Rescuers are still searching for Federika, 9; Zakhar, 13; Viorika, 14; Dominika, 16; and Artem, 18 months, their grandson. Two other children—a son and a daughter—were abroad at the time of the attack. The family's eldest son is serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Artem was his son. Briefing from Mykhailo Drapatyi, Ihor Skybiuk, Yevhenii Khmara, and Pavlo Palisa. We discussed in detail the challenges we are facing now because of Russia’s tactics of ballistic missile strikes, and our ability to counter this tactic, both at the military and diplomatic levels. We identified solutions and technological steps, as well as asymmetric measures that can give Ukraine greater protection. There was a briefing on the situation at the front, primarily in the areas of Slovyansk and Kostiantynivka, and also on the situation with the maritime export corridor – what has already been done in this area and what action plan is still to be implemented. I am grateful to all the warriors and units involved in carrying out our plan of long-range sanctions against Russia for its war. Our mid-range strikes operation against Russian forces and positions in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, including our Crimea, is ongoing. We updated the list of top priorities for mid-range strikes. I instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strengthen information-sharing and coordination with military leadership in the countries of our region. The teams at Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and the Office will work with our partners in Europe who can help with the supply of air defense missiles. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is preparing a number of systemic changes that will, among other things, allow for a clearer assessment of the situation on the front line, a more rapid response to changes in the situation, and greater opportunities for brigades to respond effectively to Russian assault activity. Today, the Russians used their ballistic missile to destroy an ordinary house belonging to an ordinary family in Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, in our Dnipro region. It was the Voronov family: mother Olena, father Artem, seven children – Mark, Dominika, Zakharii, Azarii Ilai, Federica, Emilia, and Viorika – and one-and-a-half-year-old grandson Artem, the child of their eldest son, who is now defending Ukraine. As of now, it has been confirmed that parents and three children – Mark, Azarii Ilai, and Emilia – were killed. The Russian missile struck with such force that almost nothing was left of the house… Fragments of human bodies were found under the rubble, and only forensic examinations can establish which members of the family they belong to. The fate of Zakharii, Dominika, Viorika, Federica, and Artem is still being determined… It is a horrific crime of Russia’s war against Ukraine – against ordinary people, against ordinary life. This Russian evil can only be stopped by the whole world. No one in the world can be left to face such terror alone. And when we say that Ukraine needs missiles for Patriots, when we seek the capabilities to defend ourselves against Russian ballistic missiles, this isn’t about abstractions. We are talking about families like this, people like these, who can live if we have the means to shoot down Russian missiles – if our partners help us with interceptors. Families who can be killed if we have nothing to stop Russian Iskanders with. It is important that these people are seen by those who make decisions – decisions at the Pentagon, in European capitals, and everywhere in the world where there is an opportunity to help Ukraine protect lives. Reality speaks for itself. Protecting lives is necessary. Air defense missiles are necessary. Eternal memory to all Ukrainians who were killed by Russian strikes… Eternal gratitude to everyone who helps!

Today, I presented state awards to our warriors from the Security and Defense Forces and handed the decorations to the families of fallen Heroes who were honored posthumously. I thank everyone who cares for Ukraine, who defends Ukraine, and who does everything they can to ensure that Ukraine exists. This morning, following Russia’s massive attack, I received a report from the commander – the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Kryvonozhko. About what the Russians were targeting and what our air defenders were able to do in response. Among the things that help us significantly make up for the shortage of air defense missiles are the expertise of our military and the courage of Ukrainian men. Our warriors are doing truly heroic things. Many people around the world would be simply unable to do that. Ballistic missiles remain a severe and painful threat, and the only way we can protect against them is with the support of our partners. And we are working with them to make sure Ukraine gets the capabilities it needs. And one of the most convincing arguments is precisely the expertise of our warriors, the ability of Ukrainians to shoot down even the most complex and dangerous Russian missiles. And of course, our biggest argument overall for all international cooperation, for all our international work, is the front. It is our positions, our defense, our combat brigades, and other Ukrainian units that repel Russian assaults and defend Ukraine. Everything depends on how the front holds, on how Ukrainian society supports the front, and on how society feels gratitude toward the front. Thank you to all our warriors. Glory to Ukraine!

Last night, Russia launched a massive combined strike against Ukraine. During the attack, Polish airspace was also violated, underlining once again that Russia’s aggression is a threat to the security of Europe as a whole. My thoughts are with the victims of these attacks. The European Union stands in full solidarity with the Ukrainian and Polish authorities working tirelessly to protect and defend their citizens. We are stepping up our support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence, including anti-missile and anti-drone capabilities. Europe will continue to stand united in the face of this aggression.

Last night, a Russian missile strike on Radushne in the Dnipro region killed parents and three children. Two more children were pulled alive from under the rubble. It was an ordinary home, blown into smithereens by a ballistic missile... Rescue efforts are also underway in Lviv at the site where a residential building was hit, with the rubble being cleared and the search for people continuing. So far, eight people have been reported killed across the country. My condolences to their families and loved ones... Dozens of people were injured, and everyone is receiving the necessary medical care. All the relevant services are involved. Kyiv and the region, as well as our Dnipro, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, came under attack overnight. Dozens of ordinary homes, civilian businesses, and infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged. More than 70 missiles were used in this strike, a significant number of them ballistic. There were also over 280 attack drones. More than 260 drones were intercepted. Our combat aviation shot down a significant number of cruise missiles, and even mobile fire teams managed to take on cruise missiles. Given the critical shortage of air defense missiles from our partners, our warriors are accomplishing truly incredible things, demonstrating a very high level of professionalism. This is extraordinary expertise that saves lives when air defense missiles are not provided, or deliveries are being slow walked. This Russian terror once again proves that protection against the Russian missile threat is the most important task when it comes to saving the lives of our people. And this is not a task that can be left to Ukraine alone or to any one country alone. All partners know how and with what they can help. Untimely assistance and delays in the delivery of anti-ballistic missiles lead to this kind of destruction, these kinds of casualties that, unfortunately, we are seeing today. I received a report from Air Force Commander Anatolii Kryvonozhko. The Russians prepared a massive attack several days ago, and there is a high probability that the strike will be carried out tonight. It is important that our partners fully understand what is happening and that the protection of lives directly depends on their readiness, or lack thereof, to help us with air defense missiles. First and foremost, this concerns the United States and those partners that have Patriot missiles and can provide them to support our defense. Every partner knows what is needed and fully understands the consequences of marking time. Please, in all regions of Ukraine, pay attention to air raid alerts today and stay safe.

Lindsey Graham’s and Richard Blumenthal’s sanctions package moves forward in the Senate with a clear bipartisan majority of 86-12. It was an honour to participate in the discussions with President Zelenskyy and the senators. We had an opportunity to exchange information about the state of play in Ukraine and Russia. The tide has been turning for a while. This sanctions package, combined with the EU’s 21st package, strengthens the trend for Ukraine. Peace through strength. Important to maintain the pressure whilst working towards a ceasefire and a just and lasting peace settlement.
