Indians (Hindus & Muslims) must relearn history without a communal angle. Read more about the First War of Independence (1857), where Hindus and Muslims were so seamlessly united that it shocked the British. That era was closer to the Mughal-Maratha wars.

@zinda_tilismaat Those who study history know it very well. In 1857, revolt was led under Mughal emperor's rule and he was proclaimed as a leader. Also, India as a region is almost 3 millenia old. Greeks, Persians all called it India or Hind, land to the east of Indus.

Most people don't know this but after Aurangzeb from 1707 until 1857, on paper India was still a united country under the Mughal Emperor. Maratha Nizam and many other smaller kingdoms INCLUDING the British East India company collected tax under the Mughal Emperor's name.
