It's kinda funny how ingrained dungeon crawling was with old jrpgs and nowadays it's actually not that uncommon to see a jrpg release that doesn't even have any dungeons actually

@GaidenSucks Not everyone's going to agree but the actual level design outside of combat is still important to the overall gameplay of jrpgs

It’s the reason creat a character is so popular because people like to see themselves as the hero or relative to the hero.
