Two dimes bought a loaf of bread in 1964. That same loaf costs five dollars today. I watched this clip over at AcmeAcres.us and had to share it because this is exactly the conversation more people need to be having. 2,400% inflation on bread since 1964. That number alone should make you put the phone down and think. But here’s where it gets real. Those two dimes were 90% silver. And those same two dimes today are worth over twelve dollars. Enough to buy more than two loaves of bread. The silver didn’t just keep up with inflation. It lapped it. Over 6,000% gain while your paper currency was getting gutted. This is why I accept silver and gold at the farm and give you 10% off when you pay with it. You’re not spending money. You’re trading one real asset for another. Metal for food. Both hold value. Both are tangible. Neither one disappears when a bank fails. Food prices have been inflating for sixty years and they are not stopping. A freezer full of beef you locked in at today’s price is the same principle as those two silver dimes. You’re holding something real while everything around it inflates away. Get out of paper.
