Alright. It's been fun y'all, but @elonmusk's reinstatement of Trump based on a poll of his followers is the proverbial straw. I'm out. Vox populi, vox dei.

@j_r_jenks @SidneyIcarus When Amazon Alexa was new, I built this Alexa skill for exactly this purpose - having "open" rolls as a DM that were secretly weighted: #2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">3po-labs.com/bots.html#2 The user experience on it wasn't great (voice assistants are too slow/clunky), but the project was interesting.

@SidneyIcarus Have any GMs tried secretly using loaded dice for tabletop gaming? Only when the team's feelings are on the line and only as a GM (never as a player) of course. I've thought about it but never done it.

@TychoBrahe Notes per some other folks suggestions: 1. Ghibli museum is great, but tickets limited for foreigners. Have to go to a weird tourism office on 3rd & Pine to get it 2. Fushimi Inari is amazing, but a real hike, esp. in summer heat 3. Osaka is near Kyoto, and has great street food

Gonna try to hit Kyoto and Tokyo with the family in the summer. Anything I gotta see? Eat?

@TychoBrahe 1. Japanese Curry. Doesn't matter where, even fast food (Coco) 2. Harajuku Gyoza (Tokyo). Gyoza and beer, nothing else 3. Food at convenience stores (konbini) can be great! I love F-Mart curry buns 4. You will sweat through your shirts. Go to Uniqlo (in JP), buy breathable shirts

Think it might be time for me to say goodbye to @Twitter. My feed is generally pretty wholesome today, just nerd stuff (space, alexa, games). But I disagree with Elon's fundamental assertion that anything that is technically legal should be on Twitter. How are others feeling?

@jeffblankenburg @Browns Don't worry though, halfway through the season you'll get your team's franchise quarterback in... *checks notes*... oh...

@marktucker I think it might be my favorite of Miyazaki's movies.

As a note - the choice of Tacoma, Washington (my hometown) as one of the targets here is a clear and sadistic nod to "The Tacoma Method": tacomamethod.com As if the act by itself wasn't bad enough, they tacked on an open brag about the racist facet of it.

There's a callousness to today's GOP for which my only reference point is the mean girls and jocks in teenage movies from the 80s - ruining someone's life and then having a good laugh about it.

Imagine you travelled thousands of miles to apply for asylum in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world, but instead of open arms, or even an antagonistic bureaucrat, you're met with cartoon villainy.

IMO @Venmo's app is full of anti-patterns and I'm angry at you - the broader internet - for making them a de facto standard. People pay me, then that money gets sequestered where I can't use it to pay my friends nor transfer it out because of their dumb policies and broken UX.

@marktucker Exactly! I'm sure there are metrics that tell them that the dropoff in users during the checkout phase costs them more than they'd get by allowing people to continue browsing, but holy crap is that user unfriendly.

@Galactoise Usually when I want to go back to the site it's to add more stuff to the cart. Not a very smart approach to stop me from spending more.

I hate the intentional anti-pattern where online shopping sites purposely provide no mechanism for you to go from cart back to site. Like "whoops, I messed up my order, guess I just have to live with the consequences and pay for the wrong things".

@nickschwab "If you think inflation is bad, just wait until the impact of (arbitrary thing I don't like for unrelated reasons)..." Interesting how inflation has become the scapegoat/boogieman of the day.

If you think inflation is bad, just wait until the impact of student loan forgiveness... In a few years you'll have sky-high prices AND an oversaturation of qualified job candidates.
