Achievements but for playing Riftbound.
You heard that right. I made an achievement tracker for doing fun/impressive things as you play the game, hand-selected by me.
Get a fun little animation for winning with Gutter Palace!

@GamesDecon I spoke with Jon Moormann who helped write the explanation on the bans. The intent here was that in a 3-game match you'll have a game you could go first & when you know you're going first, most decks had to run Arena's Greatest for the advantage it offered in that game.
English

Interesting convo on Riftbound Polska discord about the cause and effect in this sentence from the ban announcement:
"[Removing these two battlefields will increase diversity of battlefields played] and make player choices less deterministic on being first or second."
Does that mean that the decision of which battlefield to pick was solved based on the known variable of being 1st or 2nd or the decision to pick going 1st or 2nd was obvious due to having Arena as your battlefield?
Feels like it could be read both ways. @TrickJarrett is there a way we could get some light shed on this one? :)
English

@DrRubrick22 Oh yeah, I was only referring to unleashed format. People already expressed wanting Twilight Reveler banned cause it goes infinite :D
English

@GamesDecon Dont forget rhasa the sunderer, a unit that can be played as soon as turn 3 or 4 with kennen burn mechanic, like draven used to do a few month ago.

About deciding to ban cards based on 'community satisfaction', here's card's I've seen proposed as bannable by more than 1 person. Often multiple by the same person:
- Dazzling Aurora
- Vex, Apathetic
- Ekko
- Abandoned Hall
- Wuju Bladesman in 1v1
- Star Crossed
- Fizz
- Stellacorn Herder
- Sprite Fountain
- Arena's & Aspirant's
- Ruin Runner
- Stacked Deck
- Sabotage
- Rengar Trophy Hunter
- Elder Dragon
- Dusk Rose Lab
If that seems like virtually every strong card in the format... you've found the problem with community satisfaction as a metric
English

@PentestagTCG Fair. We have different perspectives on infinites, that's going to colour our approaches to balancing.
I wouldn't miss Aurora especially, though I don't think the would've made the meta substantially more interesting.
English

@RiftlabTCG @playriftbound This is well edited holy shit

Our EXCLUSIVE Set 4 Vendetta Card Reveal is OUT!
Thank you to the @playriftbound team for the opportunity.
LET'S GOOO!!! Video linked below 👇

@MomSkyRB That infinite combo isn't especially serious. It's 4 cards on your side + a specific Might value (5+) on your opponents unit at a battlefield. The banned card allowed infinite recruits with 3 cards and no requirements around your opponent's play, in colours that dig more easily.

@YamatoMebdi Dude I just bought my PG, give me like a month

And I'd love to check out that content when you do!
To address your points: I think there are interesting commonalities between decks (pref. to attack, defend Vs can do both; small units Vs medium Vs large units; wins of double conq, hold or can do both) that we can use to group decks together.
The fact it can be done doesn't immediately make it useful (e.g. Viktor and Reksai are both weenie decks I guess, but acknowledging their differences does more for understanding the decks over their similarities). It's even less useful when it's bad, hard to apply categories (aggro in Riftbound), so that's my main point of irritation for now.
English

@GamesDecon I'd actually love to make some content about it as well, as teaching newer players how to advance to next milestones in card games is something I love to do and would love to be available to the community at large!
English

@RiftboundMeta Aggro is wrongly applied to weenie (or tempo decks that prefer to attack than defend).
Tempo is virtually indistinguishable from midrange.
Combo, control and potentially big mana/ramp I have no beef with.
My stance is that we need our own archetype naming.
English

It's not that mtg archetypes dont exist here or dont map well. they actually do. other archetypes besides midrange just arent being printed much. riftbound is a very midrangey game, and i think that's (at least somewhat) intentional
Simon from Games Deconstructed@GamesDecon
Vagueposting about a Reddit thread I've seen. It's not that midrange/tempo is the dominant archetype in Riftbound. Riftbound is a game about tempo and nearly all decks in it are 'midrange'. I'll have to make a video about the futility of applying MTG archetypes to RB decks eventually.
English

@GamesDecon I'd love for you to check out my take on adapting Mike Flores' legendary "Who's the Beatdown?" theory from Magic: The Gathering to Riftbound. I'd really appreciate your thoughts and feedback!

@sbjornsen_ I could be posted in viridian forest, no offense taken :D

@GamesDecon Don’t take it the wrong way, but I pick up bug energy from a first look. Not sure why.
English

@getriftr @PiltoverArch I do that on occasion. Enjoy!
English

@PiltoverArch @GamesDecon Love seeing people dive this deep into the numbers. Definitely watching this later. ✌️

Time for another amazing video from our friend @GamesDecon !
