I am legit quitting PlayStation after they stop making physicals. If Xbox and Nintendo follow through, I’m just fully switching to PC, because there’s no point in a console for me by then.

I’ve made the personal decision to cancel my PlayStation Plus membership. I will not be renewing it until @Sony and @PlayStation reverses their decision regarding physical media/discs. I’ve been with PlayStation since the PS2; when I was a kid. No more. I’m taking a stand today.

RIP. They just killed physical games, because they don't want you to own anything. - Sony is done making discs. - Next XBOX won't even have a drive. They'll cut all the printing, packaging, and shipping costs, but still charge us $70+ for a download. "Consumer preferences are changing" is BS. This is about removing the only leverage we gamers have left. Think about it. Right now if a digital game is $70, you have options: - check local retailers - buy a used copy on eBay - borrow it from a friend Physical retail creates competition. It forces PlayStation and Xbox to run sales to compete with the used market. Once the disc drive dies, that competition will die with it. They will own 100% of the distribution pipeline. If they want a 4-yo game to stay at $70, it stays at $70. Zero alternatives. It’s literally a total monopoly, but they're selling it to us as "convenience" And don't even get me started on game preservation. When we buy digital, we're just renting a temporary license until some corporate spreadsheet decides the server costs aren't worth it anymore. We already know the PS3 and Vita stores are on death row. PC is starting to look like the only place left where we actually have choices. Yeah it's 100% digital too but at least Steam, Epic, and GOG have to compete with each other. On console we're just trapped...

So it’s safe to say the PS6 will be 100% digital only. With how expensive these consoles are getting to be made, it doesn’t surprise me that this is one of the areas they will cut costs. But not pass it to the consumer. To be honest, I’m just happy that GTA 6 is coming. Just trying to stay positive about that, but this news is devastating for consumers.

The PS6 will be all digital and I will not support that. My journey with @PlayStation will end on the PS5 pro with the disk drive. 1994-2028 a hell of a run. @XBOX can win the console war by just keeping physical media alive.

Would you look at that lol 3 games I purchased that was delisted from Rockstar on the PlayStation store after the Definitive version of the GTA trilogy released & I’m still able to download & play from my library. 🫠

You all pre-ordered GTA 6 the moment it went live, and you all KNEW it was digital only. This is on you. Fix this and cancel your pre-orders. Do NOT get the PS6 if its digital only. Don't just talk about, be about it!

No disc? No problem. Just sell the games on physical external SSD's then. No license key, no internet/ID verification, just full ownership like it should be. Or else console gaming is dead.
