For instance, I had colleagues that focused on biomechanics consider jobs at companies like Nike while others (outside of biomechanics) sought jobs at start-up technology companies focused on rehabilitation.

We did include a survey to program directors to help inform 'time to promotion' and found similar time points for those in Research positions and those in non tenure teaching.

@smarge_pt 2. Students loans can make the impact of reduced short term earning greater as the reduced ability to pay off this debt can result in increased debt via interest. However, there are additional options such as @NIH_LRP that can help offset this.

@Bray_Brayyy @PTJournal @physiobade However, there are ‘part-time’ PhD programs for those individuals that have factors that may prevent them from being in a ‘full-time’ program. This can allow additional earning opportunities by continuing clinical work. #PTJChat #DPTtoPhD

@Bray_Brayyy @PTJournal @physiobade Different personal life needs are certainly a large consideration when electing to pursue a PhD and the type of PhD training. Within the analysis, we only represented a ‘full-time’ PhD that did not involve extra income such as PRN work.

@Bray_Brayyy @PTJournal @physiobade For instance, if this individual feels they would receive more career satisfaction out of a career associated with PhD training then I think it would be worth pursuing a PhD despite the lack of break even.
